You haven't played football at a high level have you? It actually does quite the opposite. It's takes your eyes off the line because you have to look to catch the ball then look up field, and it fools nobody, while on the contrary, a direct handoff allows the runner to keep his eyes upfield and makes you rely on the QB to put it in your gut. It also allows a plays action to come in handy.

You're right. The toss dive is a fine play when used occasionally against favorable odds and in unpredictable situations. Yes, in those situations, it's an adequately designed play.

Then why did you even post the 1st post? No play is great if everyone knows its coming.

Is that why we are one of the most successful run teams in cfb even when teams know its coming?

It immediately gets the ball in your rbs hands and lets him see the development of the defense. Which holes are actually being opened. The toss dive was extremely effective for us.

I won't argue that, it's not a complete waste of a play, I just don't feel that the rb getting the ball immediately 7 yards deep is a bigger advantage for us then it is for the defense knowing he has it 0.2 seconds after the snap, I just feel it limits what we can do off it and also give the defense more time to fill gaps

"It enables the rb to get his eyes on the line quickly"

It actually forces the RB to take his eyes off of the line and look at the ball to catch it you idiot.

Holy shite. The rb cant change direction IF HE DOESNT HAVE THE BALL. The toss allows him see the working holes and change direction.

Its also makes you committed to a spot until the qb puts it in your gut.

You clearly havent played any sport at a meaningful level.

I've never played Madden, but I have common sense. Thanks for missing the point of the OP.

That works both ways sweetheart. That means the LBs can gets eyes on the ball carrier quicker too. Play relies on the old Les Miles standard, "my guys are bigger than your guys." Until, of course, theyre not. Then you get your toss-dove shite caved in.

I don't know if Canada has run that play at Pittsburg or other stops in his past or not, but I would hope that while watching old game film of this past season that he takes note of it and keeps in LSU's offense.

It's a play that has worked well for LSU and fits our personnel. We maybe used it to much at times though, but it should have SOME role in our new offense

Toss dive is a good play. It allows the running back to see the best blocking lane and accelerate to the line. Nothing wrong with it, except when you telegraph that that is all you are considering doing.

Wow. If you hand the ball off the rbs are committed to spot where the qb is and limits the amount of time to adjust.

If you toss it to the rb he isnt commited to a damn thing.

Also, i think ill trust the coaching of peoppe that always have great run games over you guys on here that may have gotten a letter or two.

The point of the OP is to bash Les Miles when hes already been fired.
