Horrible pick. You build franchises off 3-4 years of a QB on a rookie deal, not starting him for the first time the year before you have to decide whether to pay a huge deal or lose him to free agency. Unless this is a draft and trade, I can’t understand it. If you believe in Penix that much, trade Cousins.

4 straight top 10 picks all head scratchers getting limited use.

Pitts and London drafted with no QB into run heavy offense. Then they take Robinson when they had Algiers who was really good. Now they take Penix after signing cousins.

If Cousins was not brought in to win now, then why bring in an old QB on a mega deal? Draft Odunze or Dallas Turner and try to win a Super Bowl in those 3-4 years you have him. 3 straight #8 picks and we have a backup Qb on the bench, a running back we don’t need, and Drake London who is good, not great.

Cousins only has a 2 year contract.

Soooooo, not draft a stud QB and in 2 years when cousins retires have no QB?

I think the pick makes sense

Well, it was the reasonably expected thing.

And by reasonably expected I mean it’s completely retarded and it’s the Falcons.

I just texted a Failcons fan who told me he liked the pick because Saints wanted to draft him, not sure where that info came from but oh well whatever makes him feel better..??

He's gonna be like 28 aka Brandon Wheeden when he finally starts a game lmao

And be due an extension. A QB under a rookie contract is a franchise’s most valuable resource. The Falcons are about to waste that window.

I'm in the minority here but I like the pick. They have their succession plan b/c there are no guarantees that they will be up this high in the near future.

They are following the Green Bay model.

And Penix is the 2nd best QB, at worst, in this draft IMO. Kid can play.

It's a 5 year window w/Penix.

At worst they'll have 2 years of on-field play to make a decision. At best 3.

If they wanted Penix, they couldn’t afford to trade down.

Penix will be 26 by the time that he takes over from Cousins most likely, the pick is definitely a head scratcher.

If they drafted a stud QB, you might have a point. Instead, they drafted one of the most overrated players in this draft. Penix can't throw over the middle and had multiple college seasons end due to severe injury. NFL defenses will eat him alive.

He won't be able to sit in the pocket for 12 seconds and throw the ball deep down the sideline to a 6'4 WR being covered by a future accountant in the NFL like he did at Washington.

Falcons fan.

Terrible pick. You needed DTs or DEs. Easily could have traded down and acquired more assets.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.
