He's right. Blackouts/access to games are a major issue for the MLB and not one that Manfred really seems to care about.

I'm all for shitting on Manfred, but he can't really do much about it. It's a cable company thing.

NBA League Pass is the same way.

I gave up the Braves when I left Spectrum for Hulu. Saving almost $40 a month.

His heart is in the right place, but he needs to go after the cable companies/RSN's. Manfred has no say over this.

Are you doing Hulu Live?

If so you can do FuboTV instead for like 5 more bucks a month and get the Braves.

Anyone use thestreameast anymore for games? I used to watch Pelicans games on there fairly regularly. It’s kind of a pain unless you’re able to just watch the game without wanting to look at other sites, texts, etc.

Wow, the Barves are blacked out in Bay St. Louis, MS??? Are they afraid people won't drive to Atlanta if the game is on TV?

I realize this isn't Man Fred's decision, but whoever did make the decision is regarded.

It's an antiquated rule, but the rule for sporting events is that if a team can be accessed through any of the cable providers that are offered in the area, then the league can't offer consumers access to the team through its out-of-market streaming service because the team is technically in-market, even if the team is 200+ miles away.

The lines that are drawn on that blackout map that was posted aren't random.

Blackouts are the most archaic thing in a sport that is archaic

I haven’t had cable is a while so I genuinely do not know: can people in New Orleans or Baton Rouge get Astros games on their local cable? If so what channel?

Not sure why you're blaming MLB for this, hoss.

NBA and NHL do it too, because they have to as long as they are offered through cable.

It will be interesting to see if any of these leagues go the MLS/AppleTV route and completely take all their games off of regional cable tv and move it exclusively to a third party streaming service. No blackout rules to follow there. In fact, MLS is now the most accessible sports league in the world with its Apple TV deal.
