Nothing. They were a really good football team. Tua got hurt at the end of the season and Mac Jones wasn’t Tua. What’s hard to understand? After they lost their starting QB, they weren’t as good as they were with their starting QB.

2 things kept them out of the playoffs: Tua's injury, and their old nemesis....fg kicking

How many players who started for Alabama in the 2019 Iron Bowl were even from Alabama?

The players want to win every game, but I doubt a RB who was raised in California and went to Bama to play for Saban and spring into the NFL gets especially hyped over Auburn.

Well Najee had 172 all purpose yards in the 2019 Iron Bowl so that's not that great of an example.

They didn’t live up to expectations. It’s a good thing that the 2020 team was the best of all time.

Because he’s a great player. It has nothing to do with a willingness to jump on a grenade to beat Auburn.

Didn’t Harris used to respond with “War Eagle” when Alabama fans would come up to him saying “Roll Tide”?

The players are mercenaries. They may want to win games as natural competitors (regardless of who they are playing for or against), but few Alabama players (at least among the difference makers) care about much but their draft status, NIL, etc. College football is an NFL showcase and (now) a way to profit off a bunch of fans who care way too much about winning, and coaches and administrators who want to keep their obscene 7-8 figure jobs.

This is one of those posts where multiple people offer an explanation to the OP, and the OP ignores those statements and focuses on the ones they can argue against.

LSU’s 2 all pros at wide receiver and a very good QB quarterback are what happened.
