Best part of the film was the score- so many excellent, surprising, and well-placed tunes. Especially the De La Soul ‘Say No Go’. Caught me off-guard in a good way.

Highly agree. I actually think im a bit higher in the movie too but man the song selection and how it was placed was phenomenal. Breakers Roar when they’re driving thru the burning forest is carved into my brain. Powerful scene.

I saw it yesterday. Not what I expected. Liked the comments on this thread.

I wonder if there might be a prequel. Like "Pre Civil War" showing the events leading up to this movie. Now that would be interesting.

I don’t think the filmmakers care about the lead up.

Finally saw it. I actually liked it a lot. I appreciated the sub-2hr run time also. It was shot very well.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but the sound mixing/editing in the movie was so good. I’m not super into the technical side of movies usually but the firefights especially the gunfire were done really well. The scene when Todd from Breaking Bad just shoots the first dude actually made me jump a bit in part due to the tension but also just how loud the gunfire was

The visuals were really cool too. The road trip scenes were very pleasing.

I will say they almost lost me right before Jesse Plemmons came on screen with the whole car swapping scene. It felt so random but it lead to the best scene of the movie.

They also did the Suicide squad 1 thing where they introduce new characters to then instantly kill off after one scene to raise the stakes for the main characters that are safe. Although one of them did eventually die from that

Lastly I feel like they chopped a chunk of storyline from the younger photographer. There’s a few instances where there feels like there’s something that is setting up or paying off something they don’t show. Like when they show up at the refugee stadium, she is like weirdly dodgedly looking away from the person checking them in, which is a girl who looks similarly young. Ultimately if it was cut, I think it was a smart move - so this isn’t even a critique

I kept thinking they were going to find out she’s underage or have some other motive at some point and lied and ran away from home, but maybe I misread it and it was just because them setting up the road trip was a little thrown together

(I realize these are nit picky for the most part )

It would be interesting, but it would also be irrelevant to the point of this film.

It is almost more fun to speculate about the preceding events.

When I was leaving the theater I over heard other people talking to who they were with and were expecting a different movie and wondering what lead up to that point with the POTUS. I bet if the movie does well the makers might see a future in a prequel. It is all about making $$$. Look how many Purge and Hunger Games movies were made.

I wonder if someone might sell some merch from the movie, like an American flag with only two stars representing the Western Alliance - Cali and Texas. I would buy one.

I pulled out the phone and used Shazam just so I could remember the songs and listen to them later. The score was amazing and was used so well.
