IGN’s review is up.
10/10.
My pants have left the building.

Hand him the Oscar now.
JP will win and accept the award in person. Not posthumously be gifted it

Jesus. That sounds like idiots who are mad someone made a serial killer movie out of a comic book character. Like it's going to have a bad impact on our youth.
We have people in this country that think video games cause mass shootings.

This film is going to be ruined by the internet.

Tasteless, miserable wankers.
Glenn Kenny is one of the best and most respected critics we have left. He actually writes. His review of joker isn't all negative, but of course no one actually reads the reviews, they just read the blurb that RT singles out.

How does the internet ruin a movie? The movie is the movie, regardless of what some random jackasses on the internet say about it

what a dumbass thing to say. Ranks right up there with "such and such sequel/remake has now ruined my childhood"

You’re naive if you think that countless articles on how Joker empowers incels and what not wont impact some people’s enjoyment of the film.

There is something about the character of the Joker that translates into Oscar Bait.
I don't mean that in a bad way.
Rather that the character, whether it is defined by Batman or not, is the rare chance for an actor to go completely over the top and yet still be somewhat reserved. You can portray such a wide variety of emotions with the character and all of them will ring true.

I'm trying not to get hyped for this movie, but I'm hearing so much praise. Like, Phoenix getting Oscar praise. I love that something like this movie even happened. Have to give credit to Deadpool and Logan. Joker has always been my favorite villain and it's awesome that they made something like this that delves into the really dark aspects of the character. So excited.

Because of course a movie is literally a movie and that movie is separate from the conversation surrounding it. Except, that's not how internet culture works. We saw that with Captain Marvel. Any casual reader of the internet could have felt fatigue toward that harmless movie without yet seeing it just from the idiotic people shouting their values they projected onto the movie at each other. This movie is destined to be divisive, and people are going to yell at and disagree with each other.
They're going to want to disagree with each other so much that they'll even take a common comment about internet culture and interpret it as literally as possible to then post a reply on that they think makes them sound smart and right.
And if you want to think your comment wasn't arguing for arguing's sake, fine. We'll say that the compilation of people who haven't seen Joker complaining about it proves the point. Though that compilation should probably also include all the idiots blindly defending the movie they haven't seen to be real evidence.

You're correct. There's some films I really enjoy despite what some experts on here tell me I should think about them.
Posted on 9/2/19 at 5:55 am to SoFla Tideroller
the internet doesn't ruin movies. people who blindly accept what others say about a movie and make their decision based off it, instead of making their own decision is what ruins a movie.
I read what you guys post about movies, because i value your guys input - but i do not let it make up my mind if i am gonna go see a movie or not, and honestly a lot more people out there should just decide for themselves
