After seeing the Oceans 11 movies, my character actor friends and I knocked over a series of casino's in Las Vegas. You wouldn't have heard about it, the casinos and insurance companies wanted to keep it quiet.

This stuff happens.

Im getting a lot of Cape Fear and Taxi Driver vibes. I'm sure that's why Phillips cast De Niro in this. It's a nod to those movies.

Didn't Scorsese produce this, or was going to produce it?

He was going to co-produce, but the Irishman took up more and more of his time. His co-producer Emma Koskoff from his other films stayed to co-produce with Todd Philips.

The studio wanted Scorsese in so that they could get DiCaprio to play the Joker. Philips was dead-set on Phoenix, so they didn't push the Scorsese film.

Philips and Phoenix both had the same thoughts on superhero films. No franchises, just do a grounded solo story and move on. Philips was one of the guys to lobby Warner to make lower budget DC films outside of the DCEU.

Agreed, and there are a lot of those people out there right now. I don't think the movie should be censored and I'm strongly opposed to censorship overall. However, after watching that clip, I'm getting bad vibes from the movie, legit think it might influence some already crazy people to do something crazy.

Several rottens today. Some of these critics just won't stop with this nonsense.

A movie with the message this one hammers home again and again... feels too volatile, and frankly too scary, to separate from the very real violence committed by young men like Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck in America almost every day.

Since when does real = bad? Is that their only criticism of the movie?

Couldn’t have sold me this movie better if he’d tried. This sounds perfect.

I can only imagine the horror these people will feel once Taxi Driver or A Clockwork Orange comes to the big screen

I think outrage ends up needing an emotional outlet so people end up saying irrational stuff. Certainly the coverage of real criminals is a problem worth talking about since murderers shouldn't enjoy celebrity. But an inability of critics to separate fiction from reality is a mental deficiency IMO.

If a person really wants to become a killer after watching NCFOM or the Dark Knight I think there were already some emergent mental illness issues
