Anyone been to rehab?

Yep 37 Days June-July and 45 Days Aug-Oct in 2020. Thought I knew everything after the 1st 37 day stint. Decided to work my own plan instead of the recommended one. Needless to say that ended poorly. 2nd time around finally got it through my stubborn brain that this was serious. Humbled myself and truly asked for help. I'll have 8 months sober this weekend and have never felt better physically and emotionally. It works if you work it.

I went for 30 days when I was in the Navy back in 95. Hell, we all looked forward to leaving Miramar every night to go to a meeting. But, was drinking on the plane ride home and the ride wasn't nearly long enough

I went to rehab when I was 17 (alcohol) in 1990. Baton Rouge General Mid City. Wasn't too bad. I quit drinking for six months then got back on the sauce. One thing I learned was that I am a binge drinker. I had nothing on the true alcoholics who could not function without booze. Not that one is better than the other. I still could do lots of damage on a weekend bender. But, some of these people couldn't feed themselves if they weren't drinking. Several had to be strapped to beds to detox. It was an eye opener if nothing else.

Over a ten year span I went to rehab 4 times. I got sober at La Hacienda in Hunt Texas on 2/26/17. What questions do you have?

when I was 19, checked myself into rehab on 12/27/87. Been sober for 33+ years, living one day at a time and sharing my story with others. If you need help or want to talk, reach out and I'll share my contact info. Sadly, I've been a pall bearer way to many times.

This! lots of help here if anyone needs it. Im always willing to talk or give our my contact. thanks for starting this thread its been a really good one.

Do you mind if I ask how much you were drinking, Slayer? Curious how much it took to do that kind of damage before you were 30.

I am an alcoholic . I got sober at 44. Fortunately the liver is resilient AF and I had alcohol induced hepatitis but no cirrosis or scarring so Im good now. Once the liver is scarred its not a good prognosis I am told.

im interested in this too. I think I was able to drink for so long because I was not a hard liquor drinker usually. I drank 3-4 bottles of wine a day from morning until bed for 10 years. Had I drank whiskey or vodka I would have fell apart sooner.

They told me to go to rehab but I said no no no

I had a really good life long friend who did 5-6 rehabs, the only one that ever worked was Teen Challenge.

He stayed a year at that one

He ended up dying young 53 or so

Damn. That's pretty impressive. How do you hide that all day at work? How early in the morning did you start?
