Disney World’s much-hyped “Star Wars” Galactic Starcruiser hotel, which only has 100 rooms, is not even close to selling out, Disney’s availability calendar shows.
quote:

Guests who check the “start planning your voyage” page will nearly have their pick of dates through the second half of 2022. Almost every day in August, September, October, November and December is available. There are still “voyages” in June and July, too, including a number of weekends.

quote:

The hotel is supposed to replicate a galactic cruise liner called the Halcyon, and lodgings are small and only have windows looking out onto a screen replicating outer space. Reviewers likened them to a “windowless bunker” and a “suburban junior high school built in the mid-1970s.” It also lacks the amenities usually expected in hotels at this price point, like a pool and spa.

Even Stars Wars nerds have their limits...

Well, at least their spouses do.

Maybe if Disney just pushed more LGBTQ legislation they might fill it up. Yeah, that'll do it.

I mean, it sounds pretty cool, and it is all inclusive, but it is steep. You would think they could make money at half the price...

Adults that play dress up can’t afford that on their Geek squad salaries.

It’s overpriced. Not enough fans can afford it. Should have opened it cheaper, let it get hyped up, then build the price - it would have sold out perpetually for years then

The vast majority of Star Wars fans think this thing is a joke. It doesn’t even look or feel like a Star Wars hotel. Just a generic sci fi hotel. Even if it was only $500 for a week, I wouldn’t pay for it.

You vastly underestimate how much those costumes cost to create.

With that said, to fill 100 rooms consistently all year, you're talking about thousands of people willing to shell out the money for an experience that just doesn't sound all that great. That's a long row to hoe.

So because it's not sold out, it's struggling to fill?

Weird.

I think the price will eventually come down... but... they probably don't need to sell many "rooms" to make a ton of money.

I think we can all agree that Disney management has lost all sight of what they were. They were the first non-Jewish media company that became wildly successful making wholesome family entertainment and parks that viewed the world through the eyes of a child.

Now is LBGYTHDIL, sexualization of children, and pearl clutching. The parks are dirty and overrun with scooters piloted by diabetes daredevils with the 64oz drink mugs. For 5k per night in a windowless room, Princess Leia in a gold bikini better be turning down my bed for me.

This is what the initial renderings showed. Looked roomy and kind of cool.

Then they went and built prison cells.

There aren't enough hardcore fan boys to sustain that.

Should do it as a once a year theme cruise.

Yeah I’m gonna need some weird alien hoors in there to seduce me into a windowless 1970s bunker, even at a much cheaper price point
