you know if a place allows smoking before you ever go in.

Ell, come on. Baton Rouge already has a smoking ban. The new ordinance would apply to bars and casinos that were not part of the original ban. If you're going to be a devil's advocate, at least be a good one.

I don't think any establishment that gets more than 50% of its profits from food sales allows smoking. Pretty much just straight up bars allow it. For example, Chimes does not allow smoking but the bulldog does.
ETA: I do believe that any place that allows people under 18 inside should not allow smoking.

I don't think the Bulldog does. They went to the same policy that their New Orleans locations adhere to.

It's been about a year since I was in the BR bulldog but I remember seeing people smoking.

They lost when the government mandated seat belts, helmets for motorcycles, and the purchase of health insurance. Muh freedoms are trying to claw some of it back because 'Merica, love it or leave it.

Guess that pretty much shuts down Churchills.
There is an exception for "cigar bars" and "hookah bars" in the legislation.

I dip so this doesn't bother me. I just spit on the floor when I'm out at bars

The purpose of the original ban was to keep it out of places that allowed minors.

They don't anymore... haven't for well over a year now. They could though, since they are a 'bar' and not a 'restaurant'.

The owner of the smoking bar may see that the other bar gets 90% of the customers in that area every night. I guarantee you, the smoking bar will change its policy real quick.
Honestly I don't think they would. Before the smoking ban in New Orleans, I knew of only one traditional bar (not bar/restaurant) that didn't allow smoking and that was the Avenue Pub, who only banned smoking during certain hours. I know the owner, Polly, and she said business picked up significantly during that time because people who would not normally go to bars due to smoking, would go there. She was in an article stating this very fact when they were still debating the issue and still not one bar banned smoking to follow suit.

Their smoking ban inside is why I started going back and will eat their delicious egg rolls and quesadillas with my expensive drinks.
