I would probably have some type of poison in my pocket to kill myself depending on the verdict. No way I’m doing 40 years.

The white Baton Rouge serial killer Kenneth Gleason didn’t even last a week at Angola before he killed himself.

Ward is 29. I'd assume his parents are in their 50s, grandparents maybe 70s. I couldn't live with myself for my parents losing their home 5-10 years from retirement because of my dumb arse. No way I'd run in that scenario.

Not to mention his attorney fees had to be well over $100K, aside from the surety bond.

I think you are confusing black out with pass out drunk
No I'm not. Being black-out drunk doesn't make a person violent.
It breaks down the walls of a person's personality and makes them too drunk to remember what they did.

How much did he or his family have to liquidate for bail?
It has been a while but about 3/4 of the bail was a commercial surety bond and the rest was secured by 2 pieces of property owned by women with the last name Thibodaux.
The average person without the necessary underworld connections to truly disappear themselves is wasting their time running on a $750k commercial bond. You will get tracked down. If you have the money to lose you have a better shot if you take the bounty hunters out of the mix.

Is there a reason his ex girlfriend didn’t testify on his behalf ? Unless I’m mistaken and she did. Also while I think he should do time I don’t think something like 30 years is in the interests of justice here.

Okay, I'll bite.
How much time do you think someone convicted of murdering an elderly dude in cold blood, for apparently no reason, should get?

He was convicted of manslaughter first of all. He didn’t walk up and shoot him. He was drunk and beat the shite out of him. As awful as it is, he didn’t have the intent to kill which is a big difference int he eyes of the law. I’ve been anything but a Ward defender over this course of events. But this is someone who is unlikely to be a repeat offender and there’s no point in keeping someone who can contribute to society locked up forever.

That’s a lot of bond to leave your family with while you leave the country and frick off for eternity.

Explain to us all how much time do you believe Ward should get in your opinion?

Heard from a pretty good source he could have plead to involuntary manslaughter with Cannizzaro and served a year or 2. Sat on the deal and tried ti agree to it in last week of Canizzaro’s term but not enough time. Jason Williams laughed at the deal and took him trial.

They took the deal and it was taken back right before he was prepared to begin his sentence. They didn’t sit on anything as it was a no brainer. The victims family threw a fit over it at the last minute
