The living embodiment of my favorite cocktail party icebreaker: ”How many years in prison would you need to be sentenced to to seriously think about killing yourself?”

He’s probably up for Angola or Hunt for at least 25 years.

Could you do it? I couldn’t before I had kids. Now I think I could tough it out to see them again. But I’m gonna be destroyed and they most likely will be too.

Depends if they actually separate the minnows and sharks, and, how seriously they take the Prison Rape Elimination Act.

sorry but this board has long said you do the crime, you do the time, whatever the justice system sees fit, yet throw it out the window for this dude bc he might not do it again

1) my views on criminal justice have never been in line with the mouth breathing element on this board
2) I’ve repeatedly called Ward guilty over the last few years and called out the bullshite claims that he was being mugged etc
3) potential to recidivate can be used as a sentencing factor.

I’m not asking for sympathy on behalf of the ward family who I don’t know and have called him a POS more than once. Just pointing out that people routinely serve less time for things like second degree murder etc. considering he was convicted of manslaughter, not murder, 30 years seems steep.

Mrs. Thibodeaux is his grandmother. I don’t know this guys immediate family, but his grandparents, aunt and cousins are about the sweetest people I’ve ever met.

He wants to throw it out the window because he’s a white dude in a perils shirt.

This might be one of the few times I'd consider suicide a viable option.

Not sure, it will be interesting to see what the sentencing guidelines will include and will parole be on the table.

Will he have to report to prison immediately or would he still have time to OD on Fentanyl?

Explain to us all how much time do you believe Ward should get in your opinion?

You didn't ask me, but here goes. I think he should get whatever people in N.O. get when they kill someone they did not know, for no reason. Is that 3 months? Is it 38 years?

He deserves whatever the community standard is.

You keep saying that you don’t know this guy, or his family, or anything about him, but multiple times you’ve expressed how sure you are that he’s going to be a good citizen if dealt with lightly.

Why?
