You aren't "required" to get that shite every visit. You want it in case my address has changed so you will know where to send the bill.

This is accomplished by having a copy of your driver's license and insurance card made. And anyone you're doing business with will want this info.

an early morning appointment on a nice late spring Friday. Yeah, you were rounding alright. Rounding the 6th hole on your way to the 7th.

This is dumb.

How about you schedule enough time with each patient to adequately provide them with health care instead of scheduling them on top of each other.

I addressed this in the other thread, but no shows are a huge problem with scheduling. Overbooking is how we get around that. It's not going to stop.

My health should be your number one concern, not your retirement portfolio.

I'm sorry, I thought this was America. I definitely care about the health and well-being of my patients. But my practice is a business, and I will treat it as such. This is good for my patients because I routinely track wait times and get on my staff if my customers are made to wait inordinate amounts of time. Unfortunately because I do care about my patients' (customers') problems, sometimes serious issues come up that require longer amounts of time than I've blocked for that patient.

What paperwork are you filling out every time you go to the doctor? I sign my name and hand over my insurance card. My patients do the same in my office.

Mostly contact/billing info and the same shite that is already in Epic.

Lunches in a doc's office is not "selling".

9 times out 10, I barely get to speak to the doctor and spend the hour shooting the shite with the staff.

Give me two minutes to actually speak to the doc and I will generate more RXs than 20 one hour lunches with his/her staff.

And blowjobs?????? Have you looked at most doctors? This ain't "Grey's Anatomy" - ain't no Dr. McDreamys in my territory - especially pain management docs. Gross.

Guess it all depends on how hungry you are, figuratively and literally.

Yep. One time when I questioned the needless paperwork the response was that they got a new medical record system and I need to update it. I should have responded "so you are saying you lost all of my medical records too or Just my address and phone number that you sent the last bill to? ".

I bring my kids to an Ochsner pediatrician. I've never had to fill out this type of paperwork twice. I even brought one of them to a specialist this week for the first time, and all I was asked to do was verify my name and my child's DOB (verbally not paperwork). There's an obvious reason to have to do that. I think you're making things up.

Since many doctors are now sending a confirmation text a day or two prior to your appointment, why can't they also send the paperwork to fill out as a document at the same time? I guess that would make too much sense and be too easy. I for one would be happy with that solution.

How do you know he isn't texting or emailing something about a patient. Or consulting a medical reference on his phone?

I suppose he could have been using Epic's mobile app Haiku or maybe Cerner PowerChart / via Citrix but most likely not.

I've had a few different offices email me the paperwork or direct me to their website where I could print it out and fill it out at home

I've only had one doctor say it was available online. I wish it was more universal.
Surely the confirmation text is a form of sorts, so the attachment could easily be included. It would be a nice touch, if they wanted to add it.

I don't have a dog in this fight and don't give a shite overall, but as that disinterested party I do have to chime in and say that I am required to fill out 2-3 pages minimum of paperwork every damn time I see any of the docs I go to, or my children.

Maybe it is because we rarely go...literally once a year at most for each of my kids to get a sports physical at the ped, a yearly for me and a visit to the eye doctor. Same paperwork every time. The ped is the one that gets me...I have 3 kids. I usually end up taking them all around the same time every year because of camp or school requirements. So sometimes I am filling out that same damn paperwork 3 times in a matter of about 2-3 weeks. When you never go to the doctor and every single time you go you have to fill all that shite out, yes...that is what you remember.

And my kids have gone to this office for their entire lives (oldest is 12) and I went for my entire childhood as well. This just started in the past maybe 3 years. I assumed it was probably insurance or legislatively driven...but since the medical professionals are chiming in with calls of BS, I thought I would offer this.

That's not been my experience in most cases. I understand you asking me to sign the HIPAA notice every time and I appreciate the importance of protecting PHI. However, asking me for information for which I know you already have currently documented is just complete BS. And if I want to sign a damn living will I'll ask for it.

The problem is why are you asking me to fill out a bunch of information that is already in your EHR/EMR?
