Closer geographically, but not Italian.
I had to cheat. I never knew they made fighters. It does resemble a BF-109. Plus they were on the same side.

Wait, are you talking about #1? #1 has a radial engine, and BF-109's had inlines only (in fact, all of the planes he posted are radials).... There is no semblance between the two.

#1 is a Romanian plane, not sure of the type..

The really cool thing about WWII (particularly the first part) is that aviation was at a point where small countries/companies could design and produce successful airplanes.
Here's the answers:
#1 - IAR-80. Built and operated by Romania. Played a big role in USAAF losses at Polesti.
#2 - As answered, B-32 Dominator. On 18 August 1945, three days after the Hirohito announced Japan's surrender, B-32s on a photo recon mission were attacked by Japanese fighters in the last aerial combat of WWII.
#3 - Breda Ba.65. Italian in origin. Used in WWII by Italy and Iraq. Included here because ugly airplanes need love too.
#4 - Fokker D.XXI. Built in the Netherlands. Used by the Dutch, Danish, and Finnish air force. Very maneuverable and decimated Luftwaffe Ju-52s attempting to deliver paratroopers at the start of the German invasion.
#5 - Koolhoven FK-58. Designed by France and used by escaped Polish pilots flying for the French AF.

I like girls with real big ones on the front.

What is this plane?
Dammit! Bell made it and it had a 37mm cannon in each wing nacelle but I cannot remember the name!

I mixed up the BF109 and the Focke Wolf.
It's Romanian (I cheated). I wonder if the other guy did.

I thought A-26. Engines are too close to the fuselage and too elevated.
Bell YFM-1?

It was an x plane that never made it - the Bell XFM-1 Airacuda. Interesting plane in that it used pushers...

Now since I am the only other one except for Ace...I didn't look that one up. I was looking at one of my books the other night and came across those marking.

Got to go, that was fun.

US fighter pilots often reported them as FW.190s too. There's more than a passing resemblance.

I guess that could be said if one really didn't pay attention to cockpit location.

I'm back. I left the house to go fishing, got there, then the bottom dropped out.
Well, I wasn't going to cheat. Then I saw the link.
I thought it was a Soviet jet, after the Brits gave Stalin a Rolls-Royce jet engine. But, I was totally wrong. Very interesting plane.
