One thing this thread really shows... People get really mad over politics on the Internet.

Not many on this board know how our modern military operates

Mexico may literally be our closest ally
In what way has Mexico ever done anything that's benefited the US besides cheap labor that's taken American jobs? They're actively facilitating an invasion, they're not an ally, they're a liability

I assume in your fairytale existence that Australia, UK and Canada just don't exist?

Both would be solved in the first 6 months. Supply chain issues would create calorie deficits and war actually helps depression. Something to do with having a common cause greater than one's self. Seeking happiness, it turns out, is the worst way to get it.

Mexico is our largest trading ally and is part of our mutual defense.

Well I said "may". Canada and Mexico are 1 and 2.

There is not a close 3rd.

The UK buys about 1/5 of the American exports of Mexico/Canada. Australia is far less than that.

One word: demand.

Do you know how supply and demand work? The supply lags demand, not the other way around.

I completely agree. Even in the scenario that there is an invaded army here already with the last several years of an absent border.

I think a lot about the scenario about a couple of EMP’s shot up from random places stateside.

Then, some kind of invasion or the invaded army here going hot. They would already have a plan in place for it.

We would have our pants down as a citizenry. Maybe the federal government has a plan in place, but we likely wouldn’t know very soon.

I guess, just know your neighbors.

Nobody "Ran us out". Nation building was expensive with no ROI. We chose to leave (which was the right choice). We could take over Afghanistan again within a few months if we wanted. Update: we don't want to.

You're right here and in the previous post re Afghanistan. We won what was thought to be an unwinnable war against an invisible guerilla terrorist organization in their home mountains with no clearly defined objective. It was a foolish undertaking trying to supress the Taliban and bring freedom to primitive barbarians.

But we did it. The problem was it was only tennable while the US was there to maintain it. We had to leave at some point and that happened under the most incompetent leadership maybe ever.

This from the guy who thinks we won the war in Afghanistan and that we controlled the situation on the ground while we were there. Yeah I’d say there’s some partisan brain rot floating around all right.

We didn’t win anything. We wasted trillions of dollars and tens of thousands of US lives.

I am not too worried about any of this because it isn't going to happen.

I am much more worried about block parties in Memphis than I am invaders from over yonder.

We played whack a mole for almost twenty years.

Never “won”. Never accomplished anything except wasting money, wasting American lives, and financially enriching certain people.,
