Yeah the parish has about 460,000 residents. Only about 375,000 now live within the city limits of Baton Rouge, St. George, Central, Zachary, or Baker.

It's challenging to figure out where exactly those areas are because both the city of Baton Rouge and the city of St. George seem to incorporate neighborhood by neighborhood, and even parcel by parcel in the areas between them. The city limits in the section around the Celtic Media center in the Bluebonnet/Coursey intersection is particularly confusing unless you look at a map.

And there's also a substantial gap with a lot of houses between the city of Central, which generally follows the Comite River/Amite River, and the city of Baton Rouge which seems to contain some neighborhoods northeast of Airline, but not all of them. Monticello is an example of one that is in neither city.

Zachary also looks like it grew out from a center, annexing neighborhoods as they got developed. So it looks like it has a very strange boundary that doesn't necessarily correlate to their also confusing school district boundary.

Awesome news! Now we need to get on establishing architectural guides, building/signage requirements, and zoning rules ASAP. I want this thing to look like Madison, MS and 30a had a baby.

I agree completely. Alpharetta, GA recently built a new city hall and the whole area has improved immensely.

St George should try and build something similar. Maybe near Perkins Rowe?

They probably won't start working on a plan until August at the earliest. They have to set boundaries, transfer the debt (for construction and pensions), elect a school board, and hire administrators and staff. Give it another two years after a plan is set. I wouldn't expect a new St. George ISD until the 2025-26 school year at the EARLIEST, probably 26-27.

Yall should annex this yellow area. Missing out on a lot of tax revenue leaving it out.

An area can petition to leave a city in order to either revert to being unincorporated or join another municipality.

Which is what BR is going to attempt to do with a number of businesses in StG which are being disputed due to BR illegally annexing them.

I am aware of the process.

As I said previously, I have a feeling a lot of property owners are going to "wait and see" what happens and whether StG (and school district) fall on their face. If they actually get their shite together and have good, efficient government and a real school system, I could definitely see an exodus from BR.
