The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) has ordered a state of emergency ahead of an expected decision in the case surrounding the police shooting death of Breonna Taylor.

Two weeks ago, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron (R) signaled that a grand jury had been empaneled to hear details surrounding the incident and that an announcement would be made when it had reached a decision, though he didn't offer a concrete timeline.

“To ensure we have the appropriate level of staffing to provide for public safety services and our policing functions, effective immediately the LMPD will operate under the emergency staffing and reporting guidelines as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures, Emergency Reponse Plan and collective bargaining agreements until further notice.”

said it in the poli board thread and will say it here too

if you can't get a grand jury to indict someone in a case... then there never was any case

even the most circumstantial of cases can typically earn an indictment from a grand jury

That place is gonna be a shitshow regardless of the verdict. Think I’ll stay away from it.

Doesn't this seem to tell us that at least some of the officers aren't gonna be charged? I'm not privy to how grand juries work. Is some of the findings told to those in power beforehand or is this just planning for the worst, hoping for the best?

I'm out in Middletown. I don't anticipate too many issues out this way, but then again AG Cameron's place isn't too far up the road.

It sounds like they'll be as prepared as they can be however it falls. As you said, there'll be shite either way. National Guard is over in Southern Indiana and read to mobilize pretty quickly.

So AG Cameron has two prosecutors presenting evidence to the GJ. They'll make the decision of whether to charge or not.

From all accounts the proceedings have been really, really tight lipped. So I don't know that they necessarily know anything but just want to be prepared.

So videos depicting violence against black people pass around here now (and even get praise from other posters)? I feel like lately this board makes me more and more ashamed to be an LSU alum.

When you've got CNN pumping sunshine up every black person in America while shaming every white man, you get what you want

The off topic board should have no relation to you being an LSU alumni
