I know many on here are already award of this company, but I finally looked at what I normally pay with Costco Pharmacy and/or Amazon Pharmacy, and it's incredible the amount of savings I saved by using CostPlus.

Complacency is my excuse for why I didn't do this sooner. How do they do it? Why can't a company like Amazon Pharmacy be as competitive?

What are the drawbacks here? The only thing I can think of is if you need a Rx the same day.

It depends on the drugs. Some you can get cheaper from pharmacy after you pay their shipping and stuff. Some you can get cheaper using good Rx. If you're in a medication regularly it's always good to search all your options for the cheapest price

I have no idea how any of the pharmaceutical world works. My doctor prescribed me some medication he knew that my insurance didn’t cover. He told me to go to Wal-Mart pharmacy and tell them to use GoodRX (I don’t even know what it is) to discount the cost.

First time I filled the prescription, the pharmacy told me it was going to be $888.43 for the month. I told them what my doctor said, and the cost was $29.64

No fricking clue who’s paying that $850 difference.

The insurance company (if you had one that covered it) would negotiate it down and pay less than half. It's marked up because they know insurance companies arent gonna pay that full amount anyway

If you figure it out let the rest of us know because prescription drug prices hell all health care prices are ridiculously hard to figure out. I have decent employer provided medical and a few of my prescriptions are cheaper using GoodRx. Once you start digging it’s like entering the Matrix but PBM’s are one of the main culprits.

I have a scenario that bugs me endlessly. One of my meds, my doctor prescribes a 30 day supply. But insurance will only pay for 15. So I elect to pay out of pocket with goodrx so I'm not paying hundreds for these meds that i can get for $20. Because of this, i have to call the pharmacy every time it needs a refill and tell them I'm not using insurance for the prescription, so fill 30 days and I'll pay with goodrx. Because somehow my insurance can say "frick what your doctor prescribes" lol.

The Healthcare system is fricked for day to day use.

Here is an example, even with GoodRx, for a medication that is a 90-days supply.

Costco, by far and away, is the cheapest, using GoodRx (no coupon necessary at Costco).

This same medication at CostPlus costs $10.70. Nothing is different.

I think they only charge a 15% mark up on their cost(hence the name). Probably not making money yet but at scale they certainly will.

Drugs are such a ripoff.

Oh, with insurance the cost is $800/month, but you have GoodRX so it's $5/month.

Why is the price not just $5/month to start with?

So we are arguing for government controlled pharmacy? That’s a terrible idea. This is how a free market works…
