I walk into a classroom of a teacher that is teaching my kid and they’re covered in tattoos, the next steps I’m taking is to the principal to get my kid out of that class. Don’t want someone so idiotic to cover themselves up like that teaching my child.

But if it's an untattoed tranny it's OK?

Ignorant in your prejudices. In the 1930s, it would have been considered "trashy" for a teacher to not wear a suit and tie. Do you think that applies today to a teacher wearing a polo and khakis? No. Why? Because what they're wearing has no bearing on their teaching abilities, professionalism, or overall intelligence or personality.

Cue the “tattoos are trashy” and the “I don’t have any tattoos” posts.

Well, tattoos are trashy. So are the people who get them. I don't have any tattoos.

I think you’re making the point that society is sliding into increasing trashiness and casualness.

People can barely be bothered to wear a collared shirt at weddings and church these days.

My point is that society is sliding into increasing focus on results over appearances.

So? If I end up hating it in 30 years, I'll black it out and then laser something new on top of that. Until then, y'all just sound ignorant. Like your parents thinking a beard and long hair makes someone look homeless.

There’s only so much you can do with a tribal band or barb wire tat.

I have no tattoos. I am shocked every time we are at the beach at all of the tattoos, especially on older women. It's like their version of a mid-life crisis. Their husbands buy a car, they tattoo some stupid meaningless daisey, dolphin, dove, etc. on their body.

I think my favorite are the morbidly obese people who have calf tats that they’ll have to cover with compression / circulation socks in a few years when they turn 36

No, I'm aware of it. It's trashy.

It would be nice if they did. But a suit vs khakis is nit equivalent to bare skin vs permanent markings of skulls, and animals or cheesy hearts and cursive messages that lead reasonable people to ask "What the hell were they thinking?"

This society does everything it can to cover up results it capriciously deems inappropriate.

My thing with tattoos is that whether or not the perception of people with tattoos is outdated or prejudicial, you still have to keep it in mind before getting one. For example, if I’m hiring someone, even if I don’t personally mind a visible tattoo, I will know that they chose to defiantly and/or reckless get a visible tattoo, and that’s indicative of personality traits I may or may not want in an organization, depending on what we do.
