There sure is a bunch of jealousy in this thread.

If you're making the kind of scratch to afford it, then more power to you. However, many of the baws buying these don't make 80k a year.

I don't understand it either but i guess people just have different priorities.

why do people like spending so much on vehicles?

People spend a lot of time in their vehicles whether it's commuting or shuttling kids around. People also love their creature comforts. In some areas, it's a status symbol.

I'd buy that truck if they throw in that tattoo for free.

Not enough to warrant spending that much money on a something that depreciates. I like my creature comforts too, so that is why I'm putting more money towards retirement and my house.

Buy it next year for $60K after that dude rolls 60 thousand miles while treating it like it's made of gold...

I have one as a secondary vehicle and drive it to the gym during the week I used it yesterday for the first time since September 20th to put something in the bed. I like nice cars, trucks, clothes, and guns so that's what I spend my money on.

Is it really though?

Just because you could spend $80K on a truck, and some people will, doesn't make it normal.

Get into any thing near a blue collar work place like say the equipment business or spill response and it's a swing dick contest for who can spend the most on a truck

It is objectively pretty stupid to do for most of the population.

Of course, everyone has hobbies so if yours is a car, that's fine, but we know that for 90% of the population these are terrible financial decisions.

As someone stated, sure people are in their cars a lot, but if they didn't spend 80k on a truck they could live closer to work, and so on.

Almost every truck owner does. Most just won't admit it.

That is insane for a truck. Last year I bought a used 16 Tundra and justified the price because I felt it would last for a ton of miles, but it still sucked.

With nothing down, that’s about $1400 month on a five year note. There just aren’t many people who can afford that while being financially responsible.

I own a C300 and the note is $700/month is already sickening. I would love to drive an AMG but they are going to push $1000/month and I can’t stomach it.
