Because you mother frickers are trash WFH employees. Borderline exclusively. Muh "more efficient at home" is a laughable and transparent lie.

I’ve been at the same company for 12 years, half of those completely remote.

Three of my best four annual reviews came during the remote years. As well as my largest bonuses.

Strange.

Easy fix. Tell them you will mark them down for a day of PTO and follow that up with "stay safe".

My biggest issue when I became a manager was understanding not everybody takes personal responsibility or ownership.

How do they not when there’s real money on the line? Like support a family money

Trust, a lot more people want those jobs than have them. That should motivate anybody

I assume you've worked from the last 6 years as opposed to the first 6?

Do you have the exact same job as you did when you started? Could you possibly have been promoted? Is it possible that larger bonuses and wages are due to your seniority and inflation rather than simply a percieved increase in productivity?

If they can reasonably do their work from home, why force them to be in the office 100% of the time?

Quit being an insufferable tool. Let them work from home and have them send in a detailed work log at the end of the day. Win win. They work from home and are forced to be productive.

If they fluff up the work log, then deal with that on a case by case basis.

We're on a flex schedule, so I'll basically tell them you can either come in today or come in Friday (when we're normally remote). They always choose to just go ahead and come in.. or yeah, burn your vacation day.

How many request do you get from employees everytime it rains or gets cold asking if they can work from home using some lazy, bs excuse? Covid was the worst thing to ever happen to the American worker.

I purposely don’t respond until the morning of as I consider these request asinine. Since I get to work at 6:00am, I’m getting ready for my usual email response of, “Just got to the office. It didn’t seem like there were any issues on the road so you should be good. See ya soon!”

You're a frickin tard and will lose good people with that mentality.

My company has a policy "if the weather or traffic sucks, work from home."

3 of them turned around on the Causeway earlier this morning to go home and work.

The fact that people think it’s acceptable to ask to stay home and not use PTO for reasons like: - rain - I didn’t sleep well last night - my dog is sick - etc I’ve never seen a weaker generation in my life

People were doing this 40 years ago

The amount of posters that can’t tell BabyTac is a low level middle manager sitting in a cubicle LARPing as an “executive” is disturbingly high

Yep. Every time this thread comes up, people can't help but reveal who's the micromanaging arse or a manual laborer. We get it, you can't manage people unless you're looking over their shoulder. Manual labor I understand, there's no way to remotely do that.

Except I’m not.

I work in a larger group of about 20 others with a mix of fully WFH and hybrid. I’ve seen no correlation between WFH/hybrid and performance, reliability and recognition. There are people who are remote that suck and some are killing it. This is also true for hybrid.

This narrative that someone who is great needs to be in the office to be great is just dumb. It’s about work ethic, discipline and focus, not someone peering at the back of your head all day long. This is also true for people who are barely meeting expectations. If you suck, the office isn’t going to magically make you stop sucking.

I'm mostly in office, but I get more done when I'm at home because I don't have 100 people asking me dumbass shite all day long.

You could view it as the opposite as well.

I am a 100% remote employee. So while the rest of my area enjoyed a week+ of snow days recently.

I worked the entire time with zero days off.
