Get a warranty. Then, get a warranty on that warranty. Finally, get warranty insurance.

Pretty much a given with most any German-made car

1) BMW has gone full retard with its vehicle naming scheme.
2) It's a plug-in hybrid and will get you about 30 miles of electric driving (rated, probably less in real driving). If you have a short commute, it may save you some trips to the gas station, at the expense of having to plug your car in every night like you do your phone
3) It's fast, especially for a big SUV
4) It's heavy, so it won't really drive "like a BMW" if you care about that
5) Don't own it without a warranty--either manufacturer's new vehicle warranty or CPO.

X5 is the best-driving SUV on the market, it is very reliable. Rock-solid drivetrain, and since it's based on the 5 Series sedan, it feels more like a car, than a truck.

That said, I don't have any firsthand knowledge of the hybrid version, so I'd seek out vehicle-specific forums for current information.

Just dont need maintenance, ever, and you are good to go with a BMW.

BMW's are amazing to drive but I dont value that enough to pay the maintenance fees. Insanely high maintenance costs once your warranty expiries and BMW only outfits BMW parts.

A friend of mine has one. He lives in San Francisco and only has to fill up with every other month or so. That 30 electric miles wouldn’t do much for you outside a big city.

I’ve got a 21 X5M I bought in 21 during Covid when you couldn’t find anything. It’s got 28k miles on it but the warranty is about up so I’m not sure what I want to do.

Love the car but the insurance and repairs outside of warranty scares me.

Drivetrain won't give you issues, not sure on some of the ancillary features.

I wouldn't be too worried. Out-of warranty repairs on damn near anything is crazy expensive now, but still much cheaper than buying something new.
