Moved out of Louisiana 15 years ago and it’s a noticeable difference. Hate to say it because I love Louisiana, but the lower end service industry is pathetic.
To be fair, Louisiana in general is pathetic

I wish we had Waffle House in Nebraska.
Wait. How does FEMA decide if a tornado's real bad, then?

What makes southern white people so much worse than the rest of the white people.
Because they hear stories from their family elders about the way things were during jim crow and before and have an expectation that all white people are like that.
My girlfriend and I were riding around with my 93 year old grandma(who’s racist against no one btw), and we got her taking about some of the stories from when she was young. She told us how the white store owner in the town over would treat them as children buying groceries and the awful names he called them, and that his wife felt so bad she would sneak them sweets out the back door before they left. My gf, who is white, was mad at white people by the time we got out.
Many blacks internalize those stories and mistrust white people. instead of updating their thinking and giving everyone the benefit of doubt that they’re acting in good faith, they expect all white people to be like the store owner I described.
In the end, it boils down to fear and not being able to put aside the anxiety and really be objective; changing the way you think about the world is scary and difficult, and we’re all growing more intellectually lazy; you have to be willing to be open to disappointment, but with that also comes relief, and a peace of mind that the average person, regardless of color, isn’t as bad you imagine them to be.

Amen, why is that so hard to understand?

Maybe it is easier to team up against whites when they aren't 80-90% of the state.
I get that Blacks make a higher percentage of Southern states. But it's nowhere near 80%. Highest estimate by census is upper 30 to 40% in states like Louisiana.

Come back to us with data, and not this emotional bull shite.
Simple, walk into the Popeyes in Aurora, CO and look around for a few seconds. Now go to a Popeyes in Louisiana and look around.
Now pretend you are a census taker and collect your data. Come back to us with your conclusion.

Try Chick Fil A. No issues there. Stop going to McDonalds or Arbys all the time.

Had a young black guy (early 20s) started with the company a few years ago. A couple of months in, he came up to another coworker and I and asked, what’s the deal with so and so (couple of older black guys who grew up in the 70s)? These two older guys are great guys who would do anything for you and I’ve always respected. The young guy said that they pulled him aside and told him to not trust any of the white people out here. This young guy blew them off and said he didn’t think that way.
Now, I understand these guys grew up in a different time and experienced overt racism and that’s fricked up... but, goddamn, still is pretty shitty feeling that someone you worked with for almost twenty years feels that way about you because of your skin color.

They are all pissed because they want $15 an hr because fast food workers think their jobs are important.
I wish they could just get my order right.

Saw this happen one time: standing in line at a local Burger King and a car stops by the doors. Young lady gets out with 3 or 4 little kids that wasn't buckled in.'She gets out, walks in with a giant cup, looked like a circle K extra large, hollers at the workers, "sup y'all". she then proceeds to drank machine- fills up her drank cup and leaves

Obviously management and expectations are a big part of it but what else does Chick Fil A do? They are so far above every other fast food place when it comes customer service. Do they pay more?
Posted on 5/27/19 at 10:58 am to LSUneaux
Because the economy is so good. Former FF workers getting jobs as flagmen and hole watches at the plants. Slim pickings left for fast food industry

Chick fil a workers go through pretty intensive training in how to interact with customers. I think they pay a little more also. I know canes does. They’re also more selective in hiring
There’s no training program for other fast food places and no threat of losing your job for not being friendly

You know the answer. You just don't want to say it.
