Went there once about three years ago. Caught no fish. Got into an overnight battle with the biggest and most aggressive raccoons I’ve ever seen.
Work up first morning to what sounded like WW2 going on as it was opening morning of duck season.
Also got a flat tire as well.

Beautiful place, but I probably won’t be going back.

There’s big fish in there. Very hard to catch though!

I have been checking with my neighbors as they come back and so far no one had any luck. It is windy again today.

The only critters I have seen are squirrels and a lot of them. Our Yorkie is having fun when they get close to her pen.

As we were picking up the boat yesterday at the launch, a guy caught 2 big bream at the boat launch under the boat sheds. Looked like he was using crickets and a stopper about 2ft deep

Another neighbor caught several crappie and catfish. I am the minority as all three of my neighbors have boats. One even has two boats.

Word out on the street was in about 2010 -2012 or so while LDWF was shocking fish to check the fish population they got two 16lbers and too many 10lbers to count!

I have not been able to prove or disprove this to be true.

I do know that multiple other fisherman had heard the same thing.

I went last year for first time. Got a cabin. For a state park it was amazing. The Wife and I caught a few bass, but mainly was Sac A Lait fishing. We caught plenty. She caught one that was over 2lbs.

We used to do a guy's trip there and it always involved some large feed. The coons always got in the garbage and did not care if we were standing right there.

My dad's family used to do their family reunion at the state park the weekend of Father's Day. We always got cabins together, Fried fish and barbecued a goat. The fish fry came with fried potatoes, pickles, okra, squash, anything they could batter up and fry. Some of my cousins fished and they said they went frog gigging, but when I went frog gigging with them we just parked on a levee and drank beer. We always had a good time.

That park has some cool boat tours for the kids. My nephews did one where they encountered Confederate soldiers firing muskets on an island. They found a rare frog that the park rangers brought back to their office, and put in their indoor terrarium with reptiles and amphibians. As soon as they put it in there a snake swallowed it. My youngest nephew started crying. They lived in Alaska and weren't used to seeing lots of little critters.
