HAPPENING NOW: California Attorney General Rob Bonta and SOS Shirley Webber are suing Huntington Beach over new Voter ID measures that the city implemented after voters overwhelmingly supported it.
The new law will make ID mandatory to vote, increase in person voting locations, and monitor drop boxes. The democrats claim this will burden low income voters and voters of color, but also say that they already have robust ID laws in place.
Why would the democrats in California sue a city for securing their elections?

To be fair, can a city pass a law that overwrites a state voting law? Does the state set election rules and laws for state issues and city issues, or can city and state be separate?

Only dishonest cheaters are against voter ID. You need an ID to navigate almost every facet of life.

quote:Not sure, but the AG and SOS aren't suing on those grounds. They're suing on the grounds that voter ID laws are racist and disproportionally affect black people.

Literally just got an email about a breakfast for my daughter's student of the month celebration. In all caps it says, MUST SHOW ID TO ENTER.
I guess my kids school is racist according to liberals.

They're not. They're suing the city for dismantling their election fraud machine.

city and states have been whitelisting drugs that are still illegal at the federal level for a decade.

quote:Nope. Also racists. You have to have an incredibly low opinion of Black people to think they are incapable of obtaining an ID.

Is saying that black people are unable to get IDs not racist? It sure sounds racist to me.

Breakfast and education are racist.

If they can go to the corner store to spend their EBT, they can go to the local precinct and show ID. It’s not that difficult

Because in secure/ fair elections, dems would get beat by 50 point margins. They know it. We know it. They know we know it.

That's a whole lot of ugly in one picture!

Translation: blacks are too fricking stupid and poor to get an ID

I'm sure this board would also be behind Atlanta if we passed a law saying you didn't need an ID to vote and allowed same-day registration (and giving water to people in line).
