Much of the basis for saying the shut down was unnecessary is derived from data that we didn't have a month ago.

Much of it is based on the fact that the models have all missed, and they all missed high. Every single adjustment so far has been in one direction. Statistically that's strange, and it will make thinking people skeptical.

As I said elsewhere, I'm just looking for reasonable, not perfect. What was reasonable a month ago isn't looking as reasonable to continue, and the only defense offered to stay the course relies on the models I described above.

Here is my top five for the day.
Saviors:
Sulley: Saved 155
Truman: Saved 250-500 K
Moses: Saved 600k -1 million
Trump: Saved over 2 Million
Jesus: Numbers still changing daily.
Thats right Trump is number two!! A great distance behind number one but doubling up on Moses!
Believe the Scientist!

What is ironic is that a lot of these ardent Trump guys blame everyone but Trump for shutting down the economy to stop a hoax.

I’m pro Trump, I see how the media and Dems try to screw Trump at every turn, and I believe that when we come out of this thing Trump should take credit for saving 100s of thousands of lives and for diverting a huge disaster. I would trumpet Trump’s actions and not dismiss them as they are doing now.

This should go down in history as Trump’s finest hour.

How much of the economy has the federal government shut down? For the most part they've given advice (not always good advice IMO) to the states and governors and mayors are making decisions. As it should be.

IHME model has readjusted from 2.2 million US death to 60K, which is avg seasonal FLU deaths.

We don’t lose 60k on average to influenza every year. Not sure where he came up with this number, but it’s crap.

Forget models. Just look at hard facts.

They were.

I think Trump is using Dr Leprechaun and the media in a Caesar like way. “This is what you want? You got it, but for only so long “.

Are you that dense? Take out the social distancing and see where we are.

Isolation and social distancing Wouldn't flatten out a 2.2 million dead curve.

Well both people I know who had this said it was much worse than any flu they’ve ever had. Both fairly young with no underlying issues. But here I realize that nobody would believe that. Because it’s only hard on old people.

Is it because it's not a "flu."

Two weeks ago on a program out of Minnesota, heard someone who identified himself as a bio-medical engineer describe it as a Corona virus that had been spliced with an artificial gene.

It attaches itself to the epithelium/epithelial of the lungs making it particularly virulent and devastating to those with existing medical issues.

He spoke with a heavy accent not from the Orient.

Also, what flu virus scars the lungs.

How much veracity in the recent accusation that there are "westerners" who have a financial connection to the two "labs" in Wuhan.

The CDC “estimates 79,000 flu deaths and you believe them, but when they estimate over a million deaths due to COVID-19 they are crap?

Literally ANYTHING "could have happened".

Now tell us what that $4 trillion saved us.

Take out the hospitals getting 100% reimbursement if they mention Covid on the death certificate. Factor-in no one seems to have flu anymore, it’s always Covid now. Interesting...

Factor-in that the Covid test doesn’t actually test for a virus but for markers.

My brother in law had it. No underlying issues except that he was a fat frick. He struggled for 3 weeks.

My wife (no pics) runs, cycles, yoga and probably “extra” cardio with her trainer had it. Couldn’t taste or smell for a week, achy for 1 day and low grade temp for 2.

Not saying your friend wasn't healthy, but the few outliers shouldn’t be used as an example .

Whether you say the seasonal flu results in 30k or 60K, that’s even WITH a vaccine!! Corona will struggle to reach those numbers even WITHOUT a vaccine! We are killing our economy for very little return when compared to how we handle the flu every year.

Lol....soooo the data you present shows averages from the 70’s 80’s and 90’s with the most recent being 2007.....when the world has become vastly more global within the past decade.....which conveniently wouldn’t be included in your post.....and then to contradict yourself to quote that it is difficult to even determine the exact number of deaths related to the flu.....hahahahaha great post baw you got me convinced!!
