75 Billion is 1/20th of 1.5 trillion.

I don't think the difference between premium and generic brand peanut butter products is 500 (1/20th of 10,000 mortgage) fricking dollars.

You're as idiotic as the people you're trying to criticize.

you're skipping over the "EVERY YEAR" portion of the post as it pertains to the $1.5 trillion.

You're also trying to take the details of that post far too literal. It's a very valid point.

The whole monetary system is toast, and the Transnational Progressive Dems know this and already plan to pull the trigger for "the Great Reset". They don't hide it but know that making the transition ("fundamental transformation") can be very ugly.

Given all the fast-changing dynamics (AI, Robotics, Nanotech, Gene Engineering, potential Alien Technology, Quantum Computing, mass unemployment, Ideological and Religious strife, etc.) it is virtually impossible to even predict what the future economy will look like. Or the societal, cultural construct that will form the next civilizational paradigm.

For many who assume a Spiritual Paradigm (God-based)...it's a hopeful given for the long-prophesied Earthly utopia; and for those who assume a Worldly Empirical Paradigm (no God), well it's just another calamitous and meaningless day in Humanities' evolutionary journey.

The Secular Globalist TPs will print until the USD crashes, as it's their Cloward-Piven plan and they have no choice, with the Republicans going along. And then their 'Great Reset' and the herding cats MO begins. Most "young Americans" will go along with most anything that promises them security and basic needs, as they have little motivation to compete for relative affluence.

It's foolish to even think that voting and talk will mitigate or solve this grand dilemma. Lord have mercy on them who love.

Did you copy/paste that from somewhere else or actually take the time to type that, your own thoughts?

That's actually very well-put and factually, predictively, correct.

Why are the children and grandchildren of the Boomer generation turning against their parents and grandparents over Social Security?

Most middle class boomers when adding their employers payroll tax match have contributed over 15% of their lifetime earnings, it's more money than they will ever get back from the government in monthly SS checks.

^^^^^^ This, exactly, but that doesn't fit another divisive narrative.

BTW, blame the WWII Gen most of all. They blew up the benefits and are the ones who made it so it was the "3rd Rail" that could never be reformed. I remember listening to them bitch about not getting as big of a COLA adjustment as they wanted every year and to many of them they felt that SS was supposed to provide for them completely even though they paid in a hell of a lot less than we do. There were way too many of them to stop as a voting block. Worked out for them as they have basically all died out now and left us with the bill.

WWII Gen did a lot of great things but they really fricked us in a lot of ways.

You're confusing The Greatest Generation with FDR .... they are not one and the same. You're also failing to take into acccount the overall mindset of that generation after having survived The Great Depression.

Uh, no.

We feel helpless because our leaders are hopelessly corrupt and are protected by a justice system that refuses to uphold the Law.

Newsweak has run several peices off of that same Redfield & Wilton Strategies/Newsweek poll. E.g., Americans Believe Social Security Is Unsustainable.

Meanwhile, I've yet to find the actual survey, or questions posed, which is odd.
... not that I don't trust Newsweak's characterizations

From the descriptions offered, it sounds as if GensY&Z has been convinced that SS is a critical problem right now, and raising taxes would be a glorious solution. Sad stuff if that is an accurate representation of GenY/GenZ.

The reform should begin with the government repaying the trust the $2.9trillion that they have stolen over the years.

We mostly sent old missiles or equipment that would cost money to destroy and dispose of.

Do you think the Feds are sending over pallets of cash like they are Pablo Escobar?

A cheery, uplifting post on a Sunday night.

I apologize for the 'negative' tone of my opinion, SR, but I have a well-deserved position as the Forum's resident "the end is near" poster.

I generally follow the 'prepare for the worst and hope for the best" MO. I have long contemplated my own demise, in order to both contrast and emphasize the positives in a short life. It works very well for me, but is not everybody's cup of tea. A strong Faith is necessary to bear the whole Truth in order that the negatives don't overwhelm the positives. And hopeless cynicism prevail.

Good luck to you and yours.

Journalism is comprised of those that rode the short bus to school. Why even ask someone in their 70s? A lot of them have been drawing SS for 5 years or more.

Why would any of them say, "sure, stop SS, I'm fine without it"??
