The whole monetary system is toast, and the Transnational Progressive Dems know this and already plan to pull the trigger for "the Great Reset". They don't hide it but know that making the transition ("fundamental transformation") can be very ugly.

Given all the fast-changing dynamics (AI, Robotics, Nanotech, Gene Engineering, potential Alien Technology, Quantum Computing, mass unemployment, Ideological and Religious strife, etc.) it is virtually impossible to even predict what the future economy will look like. Or the societal, cultural construct that will form the next civilizational paradigm.

For many who assume a Spiritual Paradigm (God-based)...it's a hopeful given for the long-prophesied Earthly utopia; and for those who assume a Worldly Empirical Paradigm (no God), well it's just another calamitous and meaningless day in Humanities' evolutionary journey.

The Secular Globalist TPs will print until the USD crashes, as it's their Cloward-Piven plan and they have no choice, with the Republicans going along. And then their 'Great Reset' and the herding cats MO begins. Most "young Americans" will go along with most anything that promises them security and basic needs, as they have little motivation to compete for relative affluence.

It's foolish to even think that voting and talk will mitigate or solve this grand dilemma. Lord have mercy on them who love.

Massive? Not in the context of Social Security it isn't.

Well, that number is crazy wrong

By my rough math calculation, that would mean every social security recipient in America would be getting about $2.5 million a year.

Yeah, cause most of them hadn’t worked long enough to put anything into it…

Why are the children and grandchildren of the Boomer generation turning against their parents and grandparents over Social Security?

Most middle class boomers when adding their employers payroll tax match have contributed over 15% of their lifetime earnings, it's more money than they will ever get back from the government in monthly SS checks.

Looks a little high. But that’s in the ballpark.

This just isn’t true. If it was, SS would be in great shape.

I guess that 30 flocking million illegal aliens had no effect

Last I heard the US government was spending upwards of $500 billion annually to support the 20-30 million illegals currently in the country, couple that with Biden forgiving nearly $75 billion in student loan forgiveness .....that money could have went a long way towards shoring up Social Security and Medicare.

It's true in my case.

I know exactly what our household lifetime earnings are and I know I paid 7.65% and my employers matched another 7.65%. If I take that 15.3% of our lifetime earnings and give the annual growth on those SS taxes at 5%/year me and the wife will never get our money back if we lived to be 100.

Because their government who has spent and wasted more money than can ever be accounted for (while the politicians get enriched) doesn’t ever want the spotlight on itself or its practices. So, through it’s controlled propaganda outlets, it will point the finger/suggest it’s the older generation’s fault, the regular people that is….and sow the seeds of derision and spite.

Divide and conquer. Divide and conquer. Divide and conquer.

Now, this I agree with. But it’s not what you stated in your previous post.

Don’t worry, you’ll make up for it with your Medicare bills.

I would rather the government just cut my household a check for around $2 million to cover me and the wife's lifetime SS and Medicare taxes and we'll call it done and I'll handle my own insurance

We've sent $75 billion to Ukraine.

We spend over $1.5 Trillion on Social Security EVERY YEAR.

A trillion is 1,000 times more than a billion.

That means that every year we spend many times more on Social Security than we've spent on Ukraine.

It's literally like carrying a $10,000 a month mortgage and complaining that you're going broke because your wife buys name brand peanut canned groceries instead of the generic grocery store brand.

It so dumb it offends me.

75 Billion is 1/20th of 1.5 trillion.

I don't think the difference between premium and generic brand peanut butter products is 500 (1/20th of 10,000 mortgage) fricking dollars.

You're as idiotic as the people you're trying to criticize.

I'm an older Gen X, and I have to side with the younger generations here. We've been knowing for well over 20 years the current SS system will eventually be insolvent. The Boomers and older Gen X's haven't done a damn thing to fix what everyone saw coming. Frick the Boomers. They should have saved more or held their elected representatives accountable.

This is what happens when you rely on government. Lesson learned.

I'm enjoying my SS check every month ... it's just more disposable income.

I'm burning through hunskies in my old age .... buying hooers, good bourbon, guns and ammo, tenderloins, teeth implants, fancy collars for my dogs (they're pussy magnets), with enough left over to pay for my ATV.

When added to my two pensions, my dividends, my Roth IRA, and my rentals income .... well, anyways ... any of you Gen Z, Gen X, Gen Gay and Millennials need a short term loan, come and see my guy Guido. I've got some leftover SS I'm looking to put on the street.

Doesn't really matter what anyone thinks. Social Security isn't sustainable.

According to Modern Monetary Theory everything is sustainable. I think MMT is crap but every government program is not sustainable if you’re running a deficit. I’m not sure why SS gets singled out.
