Yea, that’s almost the worldwide debt figure

I would welcome the government to pay me all that I have contributed and allow me to put that to work in another way.

Only foreign countries are allowed interest on their money?

Not only is that not going to happen but Fedgov will probably confiscate your 401k too.

What's Trump's plan on SS?
DeSantis?
Haley?
You don't know? They haven't mentioned it?
Vivek has a plan. He's actually thought it through.
He also has a way to get term limits through congress.
He has a plan for the debt.
He has a plan for the border.
He speaks openly about all this.
We feel so hopeless because our leaders are hopelessly unimaginative.

We spend over $150 Trillion on Social Security EVERY YEAR.
A trillion is 1,000 times more than a billion
Well, that number is crazy wrong

I'll bet their tune is quite different with welfare, benefits for illegal immigrants and perpetual disability cases.
So we hate the elderly who actually contributed something to this country. Yay, us.
We deserve the failure that's coming.

This country is adding a trillion to the debt every 3 or 4 months. The whole house of cards is coming down one day.

It will be at their expense.

I wish they gave me the choice to invest it myself instead. I’m 39. The money invested is millions more at retirement.

It means that instead of pouring massive resources into the most corrupt country in the world we should have kept the money here at home. Comprende?

I've been paying in for 36 years and I expect to be completely fricked over.
BTW, blame the WWII Gen most of all. They blew up the benefits and are the ones who made it so it was the "3rd Rail" that could never be reformed. I remember listening to them bitch about not getting as big of a COLA adjustment as they wanted every year and to many of them they felt that SS was supposed to provide for them completely even though they paid in a hell of a lot less than we do. There were way too many of them to stop as a voting block. Worked out for them as they have basically all died out now and left us with the bill.
WWII Gen did a lot of great things but they really fricked us in a lot of ways.

Well, they’ve succeeded in dividing groups along most every other line so might as well start fostering the generational divisions as well.

Millennial here, 39 y/o, and not smart enough to compute the numbers BUT there are plenty here that can.
How many years, months, or days could the gubment fund SS with the money sent to the Ukraine?
What about the excessive amount spent in Iraq/Afghanistan?
The 1.5 Trillion the DoD has no clue where it went?

Actually it was 150. Life expectancy wasn't even 65 when it was introduced. There were so many ways to fix it but the easiest thing would have been to tie it to life expectancy or close to it. Instead it went from being a program to keep the elderly during the Depression from starving to a way of WWII Gen folks who didn't save money to live comfortably in a lengthy retirement.
BTW, for much of their careers WWII folks were paying just a couple of percent out of their paychecks. They jacked up the taxes in '86 as they were about to retire en masse to let everyone else pay the bill.
