And I know the best team doesn’t always win, but we haven’t shown the ability to even be in that conversation

It’s been a disappointing week for sure. For me, this looks more like running out of steam more than the pressure to get it done. But certainly a bit of both.

I blame Arteta on this though. He just refuses to use the depth we have. When I look at our full strength bench, there are quality players there. Not game changers but ones you should be able to rotate in throughout the season to give others a break. Not just when we’re up by 3 goals, or because of an injury. He puts the strongest team out there whenever he can, and then for a random game in March or April, will do a line change. But by then it’s too late. One game rest won’t make the difference when legs are already gone.

The team just doesn’t look as sharp.

Hopefully we push to the end, and while the PL doesn’t feel realistic, at least finish strong and make someone else earn it.

At the end of the day, we are in the PL race in April and made a CL quarterfinal run. It proves Arsenal can handle the quality at both ends. I feared results would suffer with CL added. I don’t think this team is going to drop off next season, but the question is, can we push on to win the PL or CL.

Last season I feel like we overachieved , and this season was in line with expectations given our squad and experience. It just feels worse because our stumbles seem to happen in bunches.

We are showing competitive consistency is what you are looking for in growth. We still lack depth at positions and desperately need a true striker/goal scorer that teams will have to worry about.

I know he’s way out of our price range, and Leverkusen isn’t selling him, but can you imagine Wirtz & Odegaard in the same midfield?

Zubimendi majorly backed by Arsenal recruitment team

Sales:

Nketiah, Nelson, Ramsdale and Partey most likely options for sale

Interest in Nketiah and ESR from Palace and West Ham

If retain Tommy and Timber is healthy, we just need someone who can fill in on both sides.

Finisher and Midfield for me

And someone to spell Saka that Arteta trusts

Would love to see a new LCM, a striker, a better back up for Saka, and probably a left back. There is a reason City let Jesus and Zinny go. They are quality players but probably not Champions league winning quality. The main guys play nearly every game and you can tell when a little fatigue makes a huge difference when the margins are so small. Hopefully a year experience and a few upgrades and the result will be different.

I’m not down with this. Neither are a left back or left footed. Tomi is injury prone and we don’t know timbers recovery. It could be his third season he’s fully at his best.

Zinny isn’t even a left back.

Kind of tired of the hodge podge for that position.

Maybe so.

I’m definitely onboard with Summerville from leeds as a Saka and/or Martinelli backup

In 2022-23, Gabriel Martinelli started 40 games on the left wing, Granit Xhaka made 43 starts, all as a left eight and Zinchenko started 28 games at left-back. While Zinchenko’s fitness meant he could not match Ben White’s numbers at right-back, Arsenal’s left side still had a consistency to it that has not been matched in this campaign.

Xhaka started 37 Premier League games in the left eight position, while Martinelli started 36 on the left wing- only missing the final two games of the season. This season, Kai Havertz, Declan Rice, Emile Smith Rowe, Fabio Vieira and Leandro Trossard have all started league games as a ‘left eight’. Martinelli has started 29 games on the left wing with Trossard, Jesus and Reiss Nelson all getting Premier League starts on that flank.

At left-back, the picture has shifted too but not into a settled groove. Zinchenko has 24 starts and 11 sub appearances, Jakub Kiwior has 17 starts (16 of them at left-back) and 10 sub appearances and Takehiro Tomiyasu has 11 starts and 14 sub appearances. Jurien Timber started the opening Premier League fixture at left-back.

This was from arseblog this morning.

I can’t even remember the last time Jesus put a ball on target.

He’s an awful finisher

If the plan was to stack a bunch of early goals and then rest guys it’s not working.

Kiwior undressed again. Done with that experiment.

I mean the other option is Zinchenko

I feel so depressed every time we go on goal-less streaks.

When we are in bad for it feels like we will never score

Left back is becoming more and more a position of worry.

How exactly was that a foul on Havertz there?
