Former LSU defensive back Maurice Hampton has made his way back to the SEC and has committed to Vanderbilt,
Hampton, a former 2019 four-star safety from Memphis, Tenn., played in 13 games during LSU's national championship run in 2019 and played eight games with five starts as a sophomore in 2020.
On the baseball diamond, an early injury in 2019 kept Hampton out of the lineup during a season that was ultimately canceled due to Covid-19. He played in five games in 2021 as a reserve outfielder.
He ended up transferring to Samford to play baseball and then to Memphis to play football. Now he is headed to Nashville and will play against LSU at Tiger Stadium on Nov. 23.
