LSU redshirt freshman quarterback Emile Picarella has decided to leave the program after one season in Baton Rouge.

To fill Picarella's spot, LSU gained a commitment from MTSU transfer quarterback Kaden Martin, the son of former Tennessee star quarterback Tee Martin, who is currently an offensive analyst for LSU.

Though he has yet to appear in a college football game, Martin gives the Tigers another depth option in a revamped quarterback room that now includes Sam Leavitt, Husan Longstreet, and Landen Clark heading into the 2026 season.

Good luck Emilie. That was a heck of a walk on QB. He was our #2 in the bowl game. Should have given him a couple reps.

All this talk about "nepotism at it's worst," please just stop it. If any of you were on LSU coaching staff with an opportunity to bring your QB son on LSU roster, you would do it too. It was a swap of two QB's who's never going to see the field. At least he could actually have a chance to play where ever he lands, good luck to him.

In addition to being a camp arm, I
can see Martin having a role in analyzing film and in the future as a GA.

College football free agency. I guess I’m getting old. No commitment to the school. Money driven

So, like coaches for all of your decades? Without looking it up, how many colleges was Bear Bryant the HC?

Maybe 3 or 4 over 40 years? Not 5 schools in 4 years like some of these pre Madonna’s average.

Redshirt junior and he has never participated in a college football game that I can tell. Looks like he plays a bit of baseball. Best of luck to him.

I agree...nepotism at its worst. Picarella has been at LSU a year as a RS. He turned down SEC scholarship offers to walk on at LSU. This Martin kid has the same amount of on field experience as Picarella which is 0. So why bring in a guy from outside the program who will never see the field at LSU. TBH, Picarella wouldn't either but this stinks that the ONLY reason there is this exchange of "walkon" caliber players is that Kaden Martin's dad is on the only staff. Not exactly a classy move IMO.

If he was so good, why's he transferring to a D2 school? I'm seeing Delta State.

Picarella alerted staff before spring ended that he was leaving. Emille didnt leave because we brought in Martin. Exactly the opposite: We brought martin in because Emille informed coaches he was leaving
