Kalen Deboer has a track record of making big strides in year 2:

1st year at Sioux Falls: 11-2
2nd year at Sioux Falls: 14-0, National Champions

1st Year at Fresno St.: 3-3 (Covid season)
2nd year at Fresno St.: 9-3, 2nd in Mountain West

1st Year at Washington: 11-2
2nd Year at Washington: 14-1, National Runner Up

1st Year at Alabama: 9-4
2nd Year at Alabama: ?

Between that trend, the addition of Ryan Grubb, and Milroe departing, Bama fans have a lot to be optimistic about.

Grubb didn't want any part of Milroe being there. Wise to wait a year to join DeBoer.

unless the true freshman starts, is it really better for Alabama’s starting QB next season? Ty Simpson couldn’t beat Jalen Milroe out.

And Joe Burrow couldn't beat out Dwayne Haskins. Etc, etc

yup

and true freshman JJ Mccarthy "couldn't" beat out Cade McNamara, but managed to go 27-1 as a starter and win the natty as a true junior

Our schedule isn’t favorable though.

Haskins was really good though and Burrow "couldn't beat him out" because of an injury.

To be fair, Burrow wasn’t that great his first year at LSU

One of the best in the NFL though
