off topic but does anyone remember a seafood buffet in Brusly (I think?) from the late 80s/early 90s? I remember going with my grandparents like it was a huge deal

Yes, I went once as a kid and don't remember being impressed with it. We were one of the only tables. This was probably mid 90s.

That seems really expensive?

Compared to what? Hooters is like $27 for a small plate of legs.

More like they don’t act like me.
Have you ever been to a casino buffet in this state? Total trash.

As for taste, you are correct. All crab legs are about the same.

Swans or Schwann’s or something like that?

That was a treat to go there

But I can’t imagine a world where I’m lining up to spend $45 on crab legs at a casino

A couple of casinos in Vegas is way worth it. Top notch buffets with excellent food.

Caesar’s is one.

Respectfully, I disagree.

Some Vegas casino buffets are great. I was blown away by their food safety and cleanliness last time I went. Hot food was hot, cold food was cold.

Just because people prepare “mass quantities” of food, doesn’t always mean it’s bad. You can prepare mass quantities right.

No, it’s not going to be a chef cooking in a small restaurant doing innovative new ideas. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad.

This board has a few closed minded people who thumb their nose up at anything the common man likes to eat. It’s ridiculous.

I’ve experienced Vegas casino buffets. As far as a buffet goes, they are far and away the best option. Still didn’t like the experience.

Agreed. But I’d rather spend more on a meal that is portioned rather than spend a not-insignificant amount of money for a lot of food that is of a lesser quality.

I agree. But for $45 (I’m just using the price from the op) I have absolutely no interest in mediocre food in mass quantities. I would happily spend more for a better experience.

I’m not thumbing my nose up at anyone. I love me some Wendy’s, Waffle House, etc. But this is about what something is worth. And spending $45 for shitty crab while fighting a crowd isn’t worth the money to me, no matter the quantity.

It’s La Bayou Bistro now. I believe they have a buffet on Friday or Saturday night or they did. Anyway Swabs was great back in the 80s and 90s.

I don’t have a problem with you disagreeing. I am not a buffet guy at all until I go to there and one other I can’t remember. I do not go to any other buffets ever.

Buffets are not for everyone but they do not short change on quality there.

Why are so many people so against the idea of going to a casino to dine? Is it just because the people there don’t look like you?

I used “common man” in an entirely different topic to make an entirely different point. You may piss off, sir.

And who the hell said black? I certainly didn’t. GTFOH

Work Xmas lunch thought it was a good idea
Only good thing is it was free
