We had some friends over last night and were drinking Yamazaki 12 year and Yellow Spot on the rocks. It was wonderful.

I don't like the taste of whiskey at all but I know a lot of people hate beer and I love it so I can believe other people enjoy whiskey even if I don't.

Bourbon is a acquired taste just like anything else. I have always been a tequila guy and still consider myself that. But I do enjoy bourbon as well now.

I mean, how many people took their first swig of beer and said, "that is great"? I guess not many

Why do people care if you drink whiskey with coke or anything else?

Because gatekeeping for whatever their hobby is makes people feel special.

There may or may not be a splash of Knob Creek 9 year in my coffee this morning. Strong emphasis on may.

Standard Scottish practice is to put a water in straight scotch. It noticeably opens up the whiskey and is much more pleasant to drink.

Bulleit is made here in Kentucky.

Bulleit is bottled in Kentucky, they don’t make any of their own whiskey.

ETA: their rye is 100% MGP (produced in Indiana), their bourbon was for a time produced by Four Roses, but there is some debate as to who produces it now.

Could’ve saved $75, bought Woodford, and then you’d have a great bourbon at a reasonable price.

No disrespect but there are plenty of other interesting bourbon-making concepts that could interest you and actually provide better value.

Had some Michter’s last night. I threw some stones I keep in the freezer into the glass. It was really good

My go to in cold weather is Crown Apple and Sprite, it's called a "Panty Dropper," no woman is going to be able to keep her panties on after three of those.

My Swedish grandfather would reward me with sip of beer if I went and brought him one from the fridge when I was a little kid.

Youngest son in college would always buy top brand bourbon when on dates, to "impress the women " & get it with Coke. Told him to just buy the cheapest brand as all he was tasting was the coke. Finally saw the light of day & another true Irishman was reborn. As a rookie drinker myself, I started off with Southern Comfort & Coke, sugar on top of sugar, till I finally figured out why my hangovers were so bad.

Adding Coke and other mixers also add to the hangover intensity.

You're not doing to right then... And you probably should have started with a something mild if you're wanting to experience drinking whiskey neat.

Refuse to believe people can enjoy sipping this shite unless its mixed in coke or sprite.

I don't mix and bourbon or whiskey with soda over the $30 per fifth pricetag..

Normally it's on the rocks for most of my selection, but I do have some bottles in the 3-500+ range that I drink neat and from a Glencairn only..

Really enjoy sitting by the fire in cold weather, slowly sipping bourbon or Tennessee Whisky …. neat. I enjoy the burn and the aftertaste as well. Plus… it warms you up.
