Cost of living difference between states is a legit point. I wouldn't expect Washington DC to be as cheap as most of Utah.

Alas, you can also find wildly disparate results without even driving 50 miles from a shitty school district too.

Both states adjacent to Washington DC spend 25% less per student on average with the 2 highest per pupil districts STILL coming in at 10% less than DC spends per pupil. And, of course, those 2 districts have massively better results than DC. Why? Because you could spend 3x the amount in DC and STILL get shite results.

Thats what it is.

Money over a certain point is wasted. We have broken people who do not value education.

Spend money and time with those who do, let the other bloodlines die out.

Yes it does. Parents aren’t the only people allowed to homeschool a child.

Because DC has a large population of people who place no value on education.

Um, sending your kid to public school is mandaded by law unless you pay for an alternative.

No it’s not. Homeschooling is perfectly legal.
LOL. Um, home schooling isn't free dumbass.

You jumped into this conversation comparing public and private service after it started and now you’re laughing that the conversation you inserted yourself into compared public and private services?

I've already acknowledged that it's pretty much entirely about the students. You seem to hate it when someone agrees with you. Weird.

Saying "my taxes fund public schools, since I don't use them, I should get it back" is meaningless drivel unless you can attach a dollar amount to it.

Seems like that creates an incentive for the state to keep education funding opaque so that any citizen complaints are rendered "meaningless drivel" because there is (by design?) no way for them to attach a specific dollar value.

It can be and often is. You sure seem to think you know everything. Looks like you have limited to no experience with or understanding of homeschooling though.

Another funding is Title IX for 'disadvantaged' students. It's based on 'free lunch' kids. It's all fake. Schools know they get more money with more free lunch applicants so they don't require documentation from parents. If you make 100K a year your school would like you to get free lunch tickets so the school gets more money.

And that was behind the push to get every child on ADD medicine. The child is classified as disabled and the state pays more money to the school.
We resisted, they were freaking ruthless, we switched to private and then home school.
A public school administrator later admitted they were doing it for more money.
They don't care about the children, only the money.

because you explicitly said you were getting “my money back.” Your stated you paid this much in taxes for schools and therefore entitled to a refund. I’m questioning whether you actually currently pay enough in taxes to cover the cost of your kids’ educations in the first place.

So that's a no.

I would have to really look at the data, because almost anything would be an improvement, but are charter schools that much of an improvement? I know they have sports programs, my daughter's school had the "luck" to play a few charter schools in basketball this past season. Her school is now looking into other leagues to get away from the charter schools. Most of them, even though they are much newer than public schools are not in the great of shape. They look about how you would expect. Some, not all, so there's that, and I know it doesn't tell the whole story on the education they're getting, but it sets the table.

have you seen the charter school's that have popped up all over the state. I have a friend sending 3 kids to private school and he blew a gasket when his daughter was working on history home work. This was Quachita Baptist in Monroe. The text book was going over how native American's where Christians seeking the road to salvation. There is a school in baton rouge that advertises "pre law and pre med" for middle school. The education system in this state is a joke. Trusting charter schools that are just money grifts and Christian schools that make it up to suit narratives is just as bad as public school indoctrination.

Beyond a joke. I had the opportunity to move around the country as a youngster and LA was by far the worst education system I've ever seen. My parents knew what to expect being from LA. It was shocking to say the least.

It was so bad in fact, I skipped a grade in high school when I moved here by taking one summer school history class.

We paid $25 per student (as a deposit) to use the same books that the public school system used.

Anything extra we spent was considerably less than all the extra costs of going to public school.

I grew up in Texas had a public school education moved to LA at 25 to be next to my family and quickly learned that education was a joke. That was 24 years ago and it's worse now.

Except it doesn't make an entitlement at all. The program is funded by appropriations that are purely discretionary. The expenditure is not mandatory, so the exact opposite of an entitlement.
