Heck of an investment for something used for only 6 months but I hear it’s a game changer. Any parents with experience? Is it something I can get a used one?

Can you put a price on a peaceful night of sleep and/or getting some action from the ol' lady?

I’ve used them on all 3 of my lil baws.
First one loved it and slept through the night with it about 6 weeks after birth.
Other two seem to like it but not as big of a hit with them.
Btw you’re threads suck arse

Will this be your first baby? Your last?
If the baby is hungry, he/she will keep crying no matter what
Will your wife be breastfeeding? If so, she’ll be up every two hours at first anyway.

There are places that rent them. Use it and see how f it works. If not, return it.
My sister was generous to give us one and we liked it but I hear mixed opinions from others. All babies are different.

Do not waste your money, unless you have the money to waste.

We have one. Used them for our first two and are not currently using it for our third who is 6 weeks old.
It’s fine but I don’t think it’s a game changer like some people do.

Snoo came out after my first was born, so we did not use it for her. However, I cannot recommend enough that you read and apply "Happiest Baby on the Block." Its basically a soothing technique.
The author subsequently developed the Snoo to apply the technique articulated in the book. It worked for both my kids without having to get the Snoo.

I’ve heard you can rent them through the company and they’re very flexible with dates etc.
We didn’t use it, but I have heard good things.

We came close to renting one. Apparently it’s a game changer for colic which we dealt with for the first 3 months.
If we have another, I’m renting one from day one.

Check out this alternative for a fraction of the price 4 moms bassinet
Not as fancy but you can control it from your phone and works great

It's a keeping up with the Jones item. Similar to those $1000 strollers that seem to be everywhere now.

We had one -
- We stopped using all the functions on the second night home from the hospital.
- Our pediatrician laughed in our face and said "why the hell didn't you ask me first" when we told him we had it (he's younger and very similar to us with young kids).
- We did like the clips and the swaddle things. That system isn't worth 1800 bucks, but it is nice. We used it for the first 6 months, but it was basically just a regular bassinet with clips that looked nice.
- We sold it for 1200 bucks or something as I recall. Hung on to it for a couple of years but didn't use it for the subsequent kids (straight to crib).
Night nurses are a game changer. The SNOO is a shortcut and you have to wean them off of it.

We passed on the snoo for fear of attachment. Have heard once you use it and they become accustomed to it, it’s hard to wean off of it. Plus if you travel anywhere, good luck getting your kid to sleep in a regular bassinet.

Works for us. It was a gift so the price tag didn't matter for us. It isn't magic, but it helps to rock the baby to sleep and soothe them if they whine a little from startling themselves or something. They still wake up if they're hungry or dirty diaper. The Snoo also only soothes with rocking and white noise for like 60 seconds, then it sends a notification to your phone to go get the baby because soothing isn't working.
The resale on them is pretty damn high so you aren't eating the entire cost.
ETA I'll add that it does have a baseline rocking the entire night but it's very subtle. We turned the motion limiter on because the max setting feels like a rollercoaster but I guess babies like that

I had to look it up to see what it was. Our first child, we got up every time the baby cried. Our second and other children, we listened to the doctor and let the baby cry the first few nights after laying them down to sleep. The babies never slept better. Let them cry! Get them if they need to be fed or changed...that's all. It won't last long and you'll be set for years.
