Homemade turkey gravy is a point of pride for Thanksgiving cooks and the favorite part of the feast for many of us. It's the rich, velvety, finishing touch for the entire plate.

Now that many cooks are salt-brining their turkeys to ensure the meat is moist and well-seasoned, our pan drippings and homemade stock—the core elements of homemade gravy—can turn out saltier than we expect, which can result in gravy that's too salty.

Here are four methods to avoid or fix salty gravy mistakes and still fill your gravy boat with flavor to be proud of.

Method 1: Add More Fat
Method 2: Add More Liquid
Method 3: Thicken The Gravy
Method 4: Balance The Flavor (with acid or sugar)

They say the potato doesn’t work.

I’ve never had a gravy that I thought was “too salty”. This article is for Yankees who are used to bland food or for those watching their salt intake.

That being said, the article doesn’t list anything groundbreaking. Just add non salted things like unsalted butter, stick, thickening agent etc to dilute salt.

Yeah being worried about the salt content from pan drippings and homemade stock due to salt brining a turkey is ridiculous.

So adding more ingredients (besides salt) is supposed to be a big unknown way to dilute the salt?
