Also, is there an area (or certain hotel) where one should stay with access to decent food and drink? Braxxxton will be playing ball at SEU this weekend. Never spent much time in Hammond. Tia

Lee's, Brady's, Our Mom's.
(From your post, I'm assuming you're not looking for fancy, fine dining type places).

Take the team to Eddie's for ice cream to celebrate their world series rings.

ETA: Downtown Hammond (pretty much adjacent to Southeastern) is really a cool little place. As long as your staying somewhere in Hammond, it's not that far away.

I was there for a wedding a few years back. I think we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott. All I remember is that there was an Ihop nearby. I think now there is a Walk Ons in that area. Not much help!

Thank you. Looking at the Hampton Inn near Southeastern. I assume this hotel/area is ok? If you have a rec for a nicer restaurant that's worth mentioning you can throw it at me. We'll be in town with my high school aged kid. Not so much little kids..

Gris, do you know any thing about Destrehan (places to eat)? We also have 2 games around there. I'll probably stay in Nola for those unless there is somewhere interesting to stay around there....

For restaurants:

Jacmel Inn
Tope La

There is a gas station restaurant called Ryan’s Deli on S Range near the mall. Their muffuletta is awesome. I’ll drive from Baton Rouge to get one every once in a while.

Punjabi Dhaba is Indian food and it’s some of the best Indian food in the state.

As far as places to stay, Hammond isn’t really big and anywhere you stay is only a few minute drive from everything. The Holiday Inn and the Hampton Inn are probably your better options. Don’t stay at the Comfort Inn, Super 8, or Red Roof.

I'll add Mariner's Inn, and Tommy's Pizza.

If you're into beer hit Gnarly Barley ...

ETA: Also the OG La Caretta's right there in downtown. I haven't been there in years, but got a lot of nostalgia sitting on the patio there.

Bradys, Tacos and Beer, Le Saigon, and Cate Street for casual food places.

Jacmel Inn, One Thirteen, and Cena for fancier food.

Cena and Jacmel Inn are nicer restaurants.

The other places aren't dives or anything - just more casual. (Eddie's is kind of a hole in the wall but that's part of its charm.) Add to casual places Mariner's.

Is the Hampton Inn on Westin Oaks? I think that's an OK area. It's not like it's walkable to anything but Hammond isn't that big and you can easily drive to where you want to go in a few minutes.

you’ve gotten many good suggestions
I live in Hammond and our rotation includes Mariners, Tommy’s, streetside, cate st seafood, la carretta, and Brady’s. Gnarly barley for beer and bennys for cocktails. The Saturday farmers market is great

Have fun

If you are looking for a nice dinner go to Tope La, casual hit mariners or our mom's.
