Are coy fish edible?

Long story short... My parents are selling their house and they have a huge pond with some nice size coy. We went ahead and cleaned one and fried it up but my youngest son got a little sick but I'm not sure if that was because of the way it was prepared or if coy are just not edible. Beautiful looking fish that I would hate to see go to waste.

They are a type of carp. Bottom feeders mainly. If you will eat a carp, you'd eat coy or goldfish. And GF will get big if you put them in a pond.

Is this for real?

any freshwater fish including koi are edible. it might taste like shite if the water source is shitty.

I like how you query this after you feed it to your kid.

Carp.
A certain segment of the population are known to eat them.
I sure as frick wouldn't. Are you so hard up for food that you're having to eat coy out of a goldfish pond? If so, set up a GoFundMe and I will buy your family dinner.

So, you're basically asking if it's cool to eat your parents pets?
ETA: Oh wait they have coy in a pond but not a coy pond? Like...your parents don't care for these things, they're wild? Yeah I guess you can eat them.
