Need a location that sells these on a consistent basis, Lafayette or Baton Rouge

Costco. Ask the butcher. They usually get two shipments a week.

Yup... everyone once and a while I see them out, but every time I've asked they'd had them in the back. I've seen them at Rouses occasionally as well.

Fresh Market in Lafayette usually has then, I’d suppose they’d have them in BR too…

Plate Ribs? I go to Fresh Market multiple times per week and I’ve only ever seen beef short ribs.

Plate ribs are short ribs. They are the long meaty Texas bbq ribs.
Short ribs come from the chuck section of the cow. In layman’s terms, it’s the first half of the ribcage.
Those short ribs can then be cut into 2 cuts:
- the 4 bone chuck short rib (bones 2-5)
- the 3 bone plate short rib (bones 6-8)
Then those 2 cuts can have the tips cut off (cut shorter) and you’ll get the small short ribs that you think of when you hear “short ribs”. Or you can slice them thin perpendicular to the bone for flanken cut short ribs (Korean short ribs).

You have to ask for them, they aren’t on display in the cases. The short ribs are cut from the plate. I’ve had them many times, put on my pit…

Costco like others have said. Sam’s apparently has them too, but I dont shop there
I’ve also had Maxwells order them for me.
I’ve ordered only from 44 Farms. Their “choice” is better than pretty much anything you will get locally. But it’s not cheap. They ship fast though

Dino ribs? Have never seen them in a store. I’ve gotten them online, but very expensive.

Saw them last night in Costco in front of the butcher. Forgot the price / lb but they were at least $56-$60 chunks. Fairly large too.

whats the difference between Dino ribs and Beef Plate ribs?
Posted on 1/18/25 at 2:10 pm to BradHawpe
“Dino ribs” are plate ribs.
Again, the plate ribs are the 3-bone short rib (bones 6-8).
Although, I’ve heard some people refer to the chuck ribs as Dino and plate ribs as bronto. It’s just a slang term that may not always be used in the same context.
