Wrong.

The Stockade Cafe takes the cake on this one. I'm sure someone's gonna say the State Trooper Cafeteria or something like that, but who wants to eat next to a bunch of green pigs?

I never had it, but the fried chicken at Tony's looks/smells orgasmic.

I love Dorothy's but the fried ckn is not their strOng point. Too salty and not much of any other flavor. Get the smothered pork chop with rice and gravy next time.

The cafteria over here at the general makes it a couple times a week. The lab is right down the hall from the kitchen and at about 10 I start to smell it and my mouth stays watering til lunch. Actually I have never had it though as I dont eat much fried foods.

May not technically be fried chicken, but the Chicken Fried Chicken at Chelsea's was always a favorite.

If you're feeling brave, there's a little ghetto corner store out the back gates of Southern University named "Tripletts" (i think, but everybody just calls it the "Blue Store") .. awsome fried chicen, but they only do wings and legs.

Meh, I grew up in some sketchy places, Baton Rouge isn't that bad. Some of the best fried chicken places I've eaten at only had wings and legs.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Definitely going to be trying a few of these places out.

I see you're in Donaldsonville, is Chef's still open? I haven't had their fried chicken in years, but i remember it being good, but Leader's Fried Chicken in Gonzales is the best.

Yeah Chef's is still open, at least it was the last time I was down there.

I've eaten Leader's a few times and really enjoyed it. A discussion about Leader's with a few friends yesterday is what actually prompted me to make this thread.

I really like Leader's because it's always fresh and they do a nice job on the batter. However the last few times I've eaten there I realized it's not as seasoned as I would like my chicken. So I just started this thread to get a few more locations around BR that I may have not tried/heard of.
