What parts do you use (lime juice, tequilla and cointreau)?
I used some recipe online and it came out like shite.

Depends on the ingredients, and your desired final taste. I got used to this flavor profile while living in Austin: 2 parts teq, 1.5 parts Patron Citronge, 1 part orange juice. Secret ingredient: small splash of olive juice.

Mr. & Mrs. 'T' makes a very good margarita mix. I use it when fresh limes aren't available and it makes a very good margarita.
Fwiw, I don't like the other Mr. & Mrs. 'T' mixes that much, but the margarita mix is killer IMO.

For a quickie, the pre-made Jose Cuervo Gold stuff in the bottle is pretty good.. Salted glass, ice, pour, and then pour another..

The best margarita isn't really a margarita by definition. We used to go to Tommy's Mexican restaurant in San Francisco, LINK, which boast the largest selection of Agave tequila outside of mexico and drink theirs. It's almost like a tequila martini, but here's the recipe.
Per drink,
2 shots of tequila
1 shot of fresh lime juice
1/2 to 3/4 a shot of Agave nectar depending on how sweet you like it.
Perfect. We never thought we could find th nectar, but the walmarks has it. More of a tequila sour, but it really is easy to drink and easy to make. They cut the ends off of the limes before cutting them in half to juice, so I do the same. This is for Reposado or silver, for Anjeo they just give you a brandi glass and want you to sip it.

Whole Paycheck also has Agave nectar. If I want to put in some effort, I'll muddle slices of limes and juice oranges (also found at WF) with the nectar, strain, and mix with tequila. No triple sec or other mixer needed.

After drinking them like that, the mix just tastes like garbage. Most of the time I actually make them like martinis and shake them in a shaker. Just to get that nectar to mix well. Never thought of muddling it, good idea. I serve them in a salted martini glass with no ice. Usually they don't last long enough to get warm. We generally only drink tequila in the most festive of times, so it's kind of an event. Nothing transforms a get together like everyone having 4 shots of tequila.

I always find I need to add a bit of simple syrup. I like the idea of that agave nectar another poster mentioned. I might have to try that.

Had a great version in costa rica that is your basic lime juice, tequila, cointreau, but also with finely processed/chopped mint leaves and some sugar. Makes it similar to a Margarita Mojito. Instead of salting the glass, sugar rim it

Best you'll ever have:
1 can frozen limeaid into blender
1/2 of that can triplesec
3/4 of that can tequilla
if small can, use 1 tray ice cubes
if large can, use 2 trays of ice
Pulverize in blender (like a vita-mix)
I always use the large cans of limeaid. Makes plenty for 6 people.
Is Cointreau (sp?) better than triple sec?
