Best Popcorn Brand for a Popcorn Machine

Recently got a popcorn machine at work and I realize there is a learning curve to using it. But the Orville Redenbacher Original Corn that we have does not seam to pop very large or full. Anyone have a recommendation for some quality popcorn kernels?

Keep it simple and order these. They are what our local True Value Hardware uses in their machine.
You could go fancy and also order these. Also used by hardware store.

We've got the bags, just wasn't impressed by the corn. Very small and it felt like it was from the bottom of the machine at a movie theater, even though it was freshly popped and from the top.

Just get everything from Snappy. Make sure you get some Flavacol too. And the butter oil if you like the movie theater “butter.”

I feel I just can’t get the same taste as microwave popcorn with the machine. Always dry and burnt and I use the flavorcol and butter oil

I wonder if your pot has an issue. The only time mine ever burned was if the agitator wasn’t working or if I forgot to unlatch it once the kernels were mostly popped.

Mushroom popcorn is my favorite

I agree with MD we have a machine at home and these all-in-one packs are great.

Great Northern is ok for the corn and oil, get flavacol for the seasoning though. Snappy is better.
Flavacol is the must

Snappy is good for “butter” topping as well

This will get you movie theater popcorn.

1) Make sure the oil you're cooking it in is coconut oil. It has a high scorch/smoke point.
2) You must keep the kernels moving, at all times.
3) Your heat may be a bit too high.
4) Search for "Hoosier" or "Amish" popcorn. Or buy them from Sam's in individual kettle sized sealed packages like this.
Popcorn needs moisture to pop properly. What may have happened is that the kernels got too dried out before you used them. This happened to me with multiple types of "gourmet" corn, and I had to resort to trying to put plastic wrap underneath the lid of the reusable container, which wasn't great. You can add moisture to the container where you store the kernels, but I don't know how you figure out the ratio to keep the corn from starting to sprout vs. re-hydrating it enough to pop properly. I tried, and gave up and switch to the Sam's single serving stuff linked above.
