Anyone put fresh cilantro in their chili recipe?

I typically don’t.
I wonder if Liz puts basil in hers.

I would reckon she velvets it first.

No cilantro but try a few chopped chipotle peppers in abodo sauce ( take seeds out) and then squeeze fresh lime right before you eat

I love cilantro so I wouldn’t be mad at it but it’s never crossed my mind as something that would go well in my chili.

fresh cilantro on top in the bowl is a must

Cilantro sounds great. Much like fresh green onions on top of a bowl of gumbo. Green onions sound good on top of chili too, now that I think of it.

Some chopped cilantro and onions on top as a garnish is nice, but I don't cook it in the chili.

FWIW, I do cook it into the chili. I mince/grind it vey fine. It really compliments a hearty red chili.

It is good. Wouldn’t be chili at my house without green onions.

I don’t know if it’s a must, but it sure is a nice addition if you remember to get some.

I chop cilantro, along with purple onions, shredded cheese, avocado, and sour cream for people to dress their bowl of chili to their liking.

I’ve seen it used as topping before. I’m not a big cilantro fan. Like rosemary, a little goes a long way way to me.

I went to the Hammond chili cookoff today and had some disappointing chilis for sure. A few were legit but I wanted some face-melting heat that I didn’t get from any that I sampled (which was way too many)

Maybe for green chili, but never red. 100% in chicken tortilla soup.

Nope, but cilantro sounds awesome (I love cilantro). Habanero peppers, for sure.

Nope but I use ground beef and dark red kidney beans in mine so my opinion is probably irrelevant.
