Gumbo is one of the foods i don’t usually eat sides with unless its a holiday meal or something like that where im loading up my plate with a little of everything.

this is my take. gumbo is a meal that doesnt need a side. i dont consider rice a "side" for gumbo.

Same here. Only sides I really have with a gumbo are a side salad and bread
