So that means you pull off the best part too, the fat?
Hell no, why would I do this?
You just twist the head and pull it off, then pinch the tail and the black stuff usually comes out.

Tell her to stop eating crawfish and make you a sammich.

wouldn’t the high temp of the water kill any of the bad stuff in the line?
That'll kill bacteria, but does nothing for any chemical wastes they might have released.
I still don't bother though and never really have. Not worth the trouble and the beer that usually goes with it makes fine motor work difficult.

There's many right ways and few wrong ways to eat crawfish. Do it like you want to, just don't let anyone tell you you're doing it wrong.

The poop line is the best part!

With my peeling technique it's pretty easy to get it out, that said I don't always do it.
This. I take it out just about every time because it requires no more work, but if I am starving or rushing, i don't care about it.

I twist the tail. If they are fresh most of the time I can pull it out with the twisted off tail.
If not I leave it because the fat at the top end is half the flavor. No way i'm removing that to get to the poopshoot.

peel it correctly and efficiently and you won't have to make any extra effort to remove the line.

This isn't a fair question to ask here because the numerous people who have fallen victim to eating crawfish poop tracts are no longer able to reply.

This is one of the many reasons that consuming crawfish is disgusting.
