Jacob’s or Wayne Jacobs (Re: Laplace Andouille)

Greetings, all. I’ve heard that this is the place to come for anything food-related. I’ll be passing through Laplace tomorrow and I was wondering which of these two places is better? Also are there any “MUST-GETS” other than the andouille? TIA

I don't know which one is better but I buy Jacob's andouille because that's what my grandfather always bought. They have pretty good tasso too.

Bailey's, next door to Jacob's.

+1 on Wayne Jacobs. I like it much more than Baileys or Jacobs. It's smokier, coarser ground, and full flavored.

My favorite is from Cox's Meat Market a couple of miles west from Wayne Jacob's on 44. I've tried Bailey's and Wayne Jacob's, both very good. They all use synthetic casing on the andouille, make sure to peel this off. They all do jerky, regular sausages, tasso, etc. Don't think you can go wrong with any of this stuff.

That's my go-to shop for andouille.

I don’t buy enough to have a preference so I buy from all and have no complaints.
But you should stop at Frost Top and get a great cheeseburger and a homemade root beer float while you are there.

I was buying Wayne jacobs and it was excellent, went to jacobs because it had better reviews but I didn't like it as much as Wayne jacobs.

This is the truth.

Wayne Jacobs for sure, or my favorite Dons in Reserve.

At this point I think I might swing by the two mentioned in the OP, plus the others mentioned (Don’s and Bailey’s and Cox’s), and then do a blind test and see which one I like best.

A guy today told me to go to La Bon Boucon in Vacherie, he said it’s the best of all, but that’s not on my route.

That place is not good. I've had many of their products - just don't waste your time and money.

Bailey's! If you want a little better at 2-3 $ more a pound go to Wayne Jacobs. Jacobs is on the bottom of my list.
