I can't decide, but need to make a decision here in the next 15 minutes.

I don't find a major difference.
What will make a difference though is how well you brown your meat before mixing everything from the box in...and use chicken broth instead of water.

Add fresh green onions

I have a fresh green bell from the garden that turned yellow on the counter, so it's a yellow bell that I picked green. And I also happen to have fresh green onion growing hydroponically on the counter.
I went with the Zatarain's, bigger box and lower sodium, and it's my go-to. I have never used the Tony's version before.
Browned the sausage with peppers and onions first, now the simmer.

If you're going to do a pre-made mix go with this one

Like the other poster commented, Oak Grove is the best for premade. Honestly, jambalaya is not hard to make, if you’re not making it for a large number of people.

Can I whip it together in 35 minutes on a Wednesday work/school night while also taking out all the trash and recycling, doing this morning's dishes, and taking ops calls for server outages caused by a tropical storm moving through my zone? AND post here? If it's that easy, why does a box version even exist?

nothing wrong with boxed jambalaya (or canned red beans). when i want to do a weeknight jambalaya i use uncle bens rice, it cuts the cook time down by 2/3 at least.
(kitchen bouquet also helps

When I used to spend a lot of time on the road I would bring a pack of Oak Grove with me. It was super easy to cook in a hotel room on a hot plate.
This one isn’t bad either:

If going boxed I choose the Zatarains with cheese. Not a bad flavor overall

I feel sorry for people who don’t have access to Oak Grove jambalaya mix.
I enjoy making my own on weekends, but fricking Oak Grove is phenomenal for a weeknight meal + leftovers

I dunno, man. I did all that, ate the whole thing, and got some in 33 minutes earlier.

The time factor isn’t much longer. The prep you did to add your meat, onions, pepper, garlic, etc. is the same like you did tonight. Add your rice and brown it for a few minutes before adding your liquid and seasonings. I’ll add a small amount of Kitchen Bouquet, if I want it darker. Cooks the same as the box versions afterwards. Box versions are way too salty IMO.

I forgot to mention on Wednesdays my wife is in surgery until 7pm so it's just me and the kid.

Oh yeah? Well, I had surgery this morning and my wife delivered our 8th child this afternoon.

or canned red beans
Someone cooking Blue Runner beans with a little doctoring up when it comes to the trinity and meat has found the way to do it. The quickest and easiest way to do it. The hardest part for some people would be the rice. Follow the TD method of cooking rice, and your good to go.
