Sadly the owner, Mike Maraist, passed away recently. For those of you in the Lafayette, area what do you think happens to the club?

Steadily downhill until they get rid of the GM.

You’re at least the third person I’ve heard in the area that has said the same thing.

She is a miserable count that has waged war on her members. We have picked up a ton of members from there. Several that still live out there and make the drive into town to play.

Nothing good. Maraist took a big loss on that club every year. Hard to think his successors will be willing to do the same. Step 1 to revitalizing it will be getting rid of Dawna and making it more member driven

The members should buy it from the family and make it member owned. Then fire her and move forward. Back in the day it was a great place.

I was a member for a number of years but have since joined Oakbourne. LT ran an absurd special with basically 0 initiation fee for many years.

Yes - that's my concern with losing the LA Open and now this - hard to see the club around in 10 years if I'm being honest unless they neighborhood galvanizes around it

When? Back in the day when Church was running the shop it was an awesome place.

I had heard they were under 100 members. They’re in trouble if that’s true

The course is in great shape. This weekend the Cajun Four Ball was there. The greens are a little slow but other than that its good. Would be a shame if the family doesn't listen to what's happening to the course due to management!

heard 98 golf members from a reliable source today

Mike placed the golf course in his foundation last year that will ensure that its going to function as is until the foundation makes a decision on what to do with it. Will they sell it ....maybe ...one guess who runs his foundation...

I heard she was really good friends with Mike's wife. I don't know that for a fact though.

She was a professor in the business college at UL! She was a professor of Marketing...can u imagine taking her class and putting what she taught you to use....you'd be an unemployed mofo! And yes she is close to Naomi but also very close to Mike's sister LIZ...I think that was her golden ticket!
